They will be better, the real question is can the Canuck's keep up in the new wild west? - VanHockeyGuy
Just waiting to see what happens in the off season and what opportunities will be there for the youth. So many question marks on who will be in the lineup on a regular basis, who will get a chance from Utica. Which guys are ready to make the jump and which guys need an opportunity/will show better with the big club? Who needs more seasoning or is not working out.
Beyond being in a good mood after a playoff win, I am feeling more positive about the direction of the club - the depth and potential of prospects. Benning sounded like he was happy with his scouting trip. Might have some gems in mind for later rounds. |

That as well, you don't throw kids to the wolves. EDM Needs to trade/sign a pro, he may not even be ready for a backup role. Develop in the AHL. - VanHockeyGuy
The Oilers need a guy like Devan Dubnyk. The way he has carried the Wild all year has been very impressive. |

Reasoning with the idiots is not my strong suit. I have been told that I sometimes have a very short fuse and need to relax.
This is probably the reason why I refrain from posting here a lot as well. Too many band wagoners at this time of the year that seem to know it all. |

They had the highest goals against in the entire NHL.
No goalie is going to make a difference till they make some progress on D.

If only they could draft a goalie like Dubnyk. |

Is this something I should be excited about? To be honest I know nothing about the kid other than he's a goalie. - bloatedmosquito

I read a quote somewhere from a GM I don't recall.... I know this is starting out really well.
The quote essentially said that you should use a pick every year on a goalie, I know we seem to have an excess of goalies but if Benning can save one of his picks while acquiring another goalie, I have to think that it is a smart move.
I also think the teams goalie depth will shrink next year with very likely IMO Markstrom and one of Eriksson/Cannata gone. I think Markstrom gets a shot somewhere as a back up.
If the nucks were able to land O'Connor, it would allow them to groom him in the AHL with Cannata or Eriksson as the starter. |

Always good to see players run the goalie, I agree. I guess the Flames should have Engelland do the same to both Lack and Miller. Because, apparently, that's a good thing to do, trying to injure players. - jmatchett383
Who said anything about trying to injure players? a bump here, a nudge there, a poke/slash and a bit of an elbow during scrums is all you need to throw a goalie off his game. Even just pulling a "Holmstrom' and making a living right outside the blue paint causes goalies to lose it. As long as their is that net presence you are gold. |

P.S. to all mods: how do you undue 'flagging' someone. I've never done it to anyone but I've accidentally clicked on it today (@#$@#$ new icons and set up, oh and of course my pending senility). In any case, please IGNORE any current, previous or future accidental flagging or, for that matter, ANY flagging period whether it be now or in the the future I do not flag ANYONE nor will I.
