Kessel comes to mind. It would cost more but not something that would bleed us dry.
- Stripes77

Horrible idea.

Fvck helping Toronto.

This makes no sense?

Oshie or ROR would dismantle are future by giving up a first and second round pick for them.

- ImThatGuy

No, I meant you are acting as if not getting a top 6 winger right away with this specific pick would dismantle our future

Hey do you think that we could substitute the 1st rounder with like a 5th rounder? I mean, they are all busts so whats really the difference?
- sbroads24

Again great job avoiding the facts in front of you.

Or by drafting good players
- sbroads24

Which they've done over the past 3 years. They've had a TON of picks over the past 3 seasons. Giving up a bit of that is not going to kill them down the road. Not all of them are even going to work out either. So who's to say they don't trade one of them now and in the end, not have lost anything because the player they moved ends up not having any type of impact in the NHL at all?

I'm not saying that they have to trade anyone or any picks, but I'm not saying they shouldn't either. If there's a way to make a move that improves this team then I say they go for it. If nothing out there would do that, then stand pat.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. But the main point in acquiring all these picks was to have something to work with. The fact of the matter is, there's going to be plenty of these guys that don't work out whether we keep them or trade them now. The draft is a crap shoot.

In your dream scenario this team is competing for the Cup in two to three years. There goes your dreams of that without adding good NHL talent to this roster.

Eichel Reinhart Girgensons Kane and Ennis aren't doing it alone.

I've never understood that argument. But it would help team so and so...sure it might help them but what about what it would do to our team?

I am on the mindset if it helps us do it, I couldn't care less if it helps the other team or not.

How many good, true top line RW players are available that we would be able to make a deal for?

And I've seen almost all of you guys mention top6 winger in the trade for our first.

- Herzeleid

I would absolutely take a top 6 winger for the 2nd first round pick. no questions asked.

His contract isn't awful but again a player like him isn't going to be traded if they have a great contract that helps the team out.

Gotta give to get.

Moulson/Grigs/Hodgson/the rest of the guys that will be ready by then.

That's just the forwards

Have to recognize Risto/Bogo/Zads/Pysyk/McCabe as well

I would absolutely take a top 6 proven 50-60 point winger for the 2nd first round pick. no questions asked.

David Backes.

He's not Canadian though so not sure Murray would be interested.

- dadeadhead

Backes is getting a rep for disappearing in the post season. I actually agree with WGR that there aren't any STL players who would reasonably be available I'd want.

It doesn't have to be this offseason at the draft. Like I said, if it's a fit, explore it. We aren't one piece away, we are many

Keep the cupboards full, when the right player is available at the right time pull the trigger. If it's at the draft, so be it then

Not a damn thing.

Greatest 50 goal scorer that never was. Just ask Toronto fans, they'll tell you.

Waste of 8 mil on the cap.

I also didn't realize that someone like TJ Oshie or Ryan O'Reilly would either. It works both ways

Weber + Gionta + Gorges + Hodgson. I found the cap space.....

$14MM to be exact.
