Oh I agree but Malkin hasn't played any where near a full NHL season since 2011-2012, is a year older than Kessel, and he plays a position of strength for the Sabres (something the Sabres haven't had in forever).

I would take Backes or Oshie in a hot second.

I know this isn't nearly the most important thing, but Kessel is just such an unlikeable douchenozzle I'd cringe having him on this team. Plus, we already have our douchebag in Kane, thank you very much.

What is more important is he's a petulant 1-trick pony of a player who has openly told his coaches he refuses to play their system. Really not the kind of guy I want to put stock in building around. And at his salary we would be building around him.

For one good coaches build their systems around the players and not the other way around.

Nothing the Leafs have done is right so there's that.

As I have said before that 1 trick pony is a ppg player. His salary is $2 million dollars less than the other ppg wingers in the NHL. With the cap space they have and the salary cap going to rise by the time Reinhart, Eichel etc are due for their raise it wouldn't matter as much.

Having a one trick pony isn't the worst thing as long as you only have one and he does that one trick really freaking well. Besides that he has speed something they will need to play with Eichel.

I understand the pros and cons of him but to just dismiss him because he plays for Toronto and you don't want to help them or because he is pudgy is kinda dumb if you ask me.
