Almost as blatant was Ovechkin's cross check from behind directly into the boards against the Islanders last night. As usual, he is an animal and that is ignored by the League, which desperately wants him to win.
Not surprisingly, there were no penalties called against Kronwall or Ovechkin last night. Both should be suspended

- Amanion

even tho i agree he should get suspended, at the time on the ice, no one thought it looked as bad as it was, not any wings, refs or lightning, so the penalty has 0 to do with anything other than from FIRST glance, it didnt look bad..

under 2nd, and now countless reviews, it is a bad hit and he probably will get suspended.

It never fails to amuse me how people come into a lightning blog board with a lightning writer and lightning fans , and expect zero bias !! It's a light in blog a lightning blogger and lightning fans , if you want Detroit bias , go to your own damn blog ! God damn people are stupid !
- RileyB77

I'd use that term loosely. He's heading down the Garth/Henderson/Coultier road.

I would have given him at least two for charging, but I at least can admit when a hit is questionable, Redwings fans are incapable of that.

It was more in response to "Show me when he's ever left hit his feet and run his elbow into someone's head!" from last night.

I wasn't saying you weren't admitting it was questionable... just showing you where he's left his feet and lead with his elbow...

No one is arguing Kronwall made a good hit. We are saying a suspension is ridiculous.

Multiple wings fans, myself included think he should get suspended 1 game. Everyone has their own opinion. So saying all wings fans is a large assumption

Like I said in the Kronwall hit, there is no elbow here and he hit more the just head. That's the difference. Kronwall lepped and PPOC was Kucherov's head. That's the difference.

I think the overall point is, they are both dangerous hits and shouldn't be in the game. Both should be penalties. Neither were penalties. So at least the officials were consistent in their calls.

So any elbow to the head or face without intent should be a suspension?

You really are not going to compare Michael to this group?, that's a little extreme for disagreeing on your point of view. I'd rather read the truth than put on homer glasses all the time. Even Bolts fans boo their own once in awhile as we've all be on the get Lindback train on here. And before that there was Rolly and... And ...

He has spent a considerable amount time ripping on Cooper. I'm sick of it.

Kronwall's lack of suspensions over the years—as pointed out by Bob Duff—have less to do with his hits (which are often dirty), than it does former Wings Colin Campbell and Brendan Shanahan conveniently looking the other way for years.

Kronwall has raised the combination of targeting the head, raising the elbow and skates leaving the ice to an art.

His garbage would be a little more tolerable also if he ever answered on the ice for his dirty plays. But, no, that's never happened either.

- John Jaeckel

This is pure nonsense. Respecftully disagree.

His hits are not always dirty which is why he doens't get suspended. There is no "old boys club" favoritism keeping him from being suspended. Where was Shanahan when Webber rammed Zetterberg's head into the boards a few years ago during the playoffs ??

Kronwall plays a physical game but he's not a dirty player trying to take somebody's kneecap out to deliberately injure. Has he ever had a hit that was questionable/borderline ? Yeah... but it going to happen to a lot of players that throw big hits.

And lastly... in terms of "answering on the ice" for his dirty plays that is ridiculous. There have been lots of great hitters who don't drop the gloves after every big hit they throw. And to say they should is silly. I didn't see Scott Stevens, Rob Blake, Kasparaitus, Konstantinov, etc... having to drop the gloves every time they made a big hit. Nor should they have to in order to please some of the Hawk fans that whine about it.

There things I don't like about Coop but he's still the coach and Can be criticized, it goes with being in charge someone always has a better way or a different viewpoint, get over it. I think he was out coached as well but they're all young and learning, Coop only has 10 NHL playoff games under his belt, I'd like to see him more vocal with the Refs on calls- he seems to be calm and not willing to yell at them every once in awhile - maybe not his style but once in awhile it will pay dividends.
