You could always go after Bryzgalov. What's Rick DiPietro up to?

Sound advice.

I never suggested you stop talking trades.

So, I ask you, honestly, if you were Edmonton would you consider flipping the 1st for the 2nd and a package that included next years first, and the two young D prospects from Buffalo?

If you were Tim Murray would you be that desperate for McDavid?

If I'm Murray no because you still have Eichel. If I am Edmonton I'd likely say yes because it fill many needs in one trade.

You're right. There's no goalie in the NHL that will succeed behind the kind of Defense that Edmonton plays right now. You need to get you D fixed. If that happens you might find out your goalie is already in the house.

I was actually think about this, and it's crazy, but:

I actually think that prying the #2 pick away from Buffalo may be harder than prying the #1 pick away from Edmonton.

Sure, McDavid is the crown jewel of the draft, but the drop from him to Eichel is (from what I've heard) not incredibly steep. Given Buffalo's need for that young #1 future star center and Edmonton's more-or-less "fortunate" fall into the #1 pick, and seeing as they have RNH, just thinking that Buffalo may value their pick more than Edmonton does.

Not even tempting for Murray? It's Connor McDavid. He's been keeping Tim awake at night.

So, who thinks that Cousins may win a job out of camp next year?
- jmatchett383

It's a big summer for him. I think he will be squeezed out though and start in the A. We'll see.

I wonder if Jack Eichel feels slapped in the face by Buffalo being more or less disappointed to have to settle for him. When Erie played a game there, they basically gave McDavid the key to the city.

True but as it is now for him & Buffalo they have a solid foundation moving forward is that worth upsetting?

I'd think there might be a deal there. You have the unfortunate Tim Murray comments about the disappointment of getting "stuck" with the number 2 overall pick and how unfair the lottery is.

McDavid obviously isn't happy to go to Edmonton just from the look at the lottery to the Bankruptcy of his current team at the hands of the Oilers.

If I'm Edmonton I at least look in their direction and see what kind of pile of goodies I might get. IIRC Colorado won a cup or two on the back of the Lindros trade.

I'm not sure I do it but you have to admit that Buffalo was driven and invested a lot in the past year to position themselves for McDavid. I don't know if they're thinking with a lot of sense right now.

Does it suck for buffalo that they didn't get mcdavid? yeah. but they accomplished everything they were trying to do. Lose to get a (frank)ing hell of a draft prospect and they're getting that in eichel.

They have to look at it clearly even with tanking they only had a 20% chance. Not exactly great odds. They still get a hell of a prospect & keep their rebuilding project moving forward.

It certainly doesn't sound like the GM feels that way.

I assumed the tanking was done so they were guaranteed Eichel

I'd happily trade Luke Schenn to Dallas for their 2nd round pick (#42). Hell, I'd trade both Schenns to em for the 12th and 42nd picks too.

LOL, when it comes to Buffalo, I suspect the tanking isn't done yet. I fully expect them to be drafting 1st, 2nd, 3rd or worse case 4th next year.
