Murray is not a very good coach, did nothing with the Kings and the Blues. The players started to tune him out after the first year, he will be 2 steps back in hiring him. Not a fan of Luke Richardson either, this team is going in a new direction and a " name " coach is what this team needs. A " name " coach with a very good system for the players to learn and succeed with. |

The Detroit pp is the best I've seen in the last 20+ years.
Everyone touches the puck.
They can plug and play guys no matter what.
It's not my money but "Pay him, pay dat man his money". |

If McDavid truly is the make or break point for Babcock, would McCellan be the best option?
I think the consensus is that the faults in the playoffs are more on the GM than the coach? |

What do you guys think of McClean, formerly of the Sens ?
2 or 3? Years ago he was the talk of the town...had such a great system, the following year they had massive injuries, he gets canned. |

I wonder what sort of input MacClellan had in San Jose, and if he wants equal/more now. That could be the part where Murray doesn't want to let up control and causes friction between potential candidates and Murray. |

I'm good with the next hire being no association with Murray and Ottawa. |

I don't think most people realize Babcock was with Anaheim at the same time Murray was. |

A few current playoff coaches were "no-name" coaches when they got their NHL gig and they have all been winners at AHL level -- Jon Cooper, Bruce Boudreau, and Barry Trotz.
I wouldnt knock Richardson for being a "no-name" coach. Hes done a fine job for Ottawa's farm. But I think there are better options.
Since we're going to have a young roster, Jeff Blashill is at the top of my list (Grand Rapids AHL coach). That will depend on where Babcock goes. If he returns to Detroit, certainly Blashill is ready for his NHL shot. If Babcock leaves, Blashill will be promoted surely. |

Go back and look at the Kings rosters in the years he was there and tell me that his record with those guys is less impressive than mcLellan - everybody's darling - did with his roster.
I'll give you a hint : Bob Corkum was a big name on Murrays squad.
And he's well respected as a teacher of young players in the college game, now.
You might want to end the conversation quickly - and I would lex plods if he even got an interview (I said long shot). But IMO, just tossing the same names around the echo chamber is just a thoughtless bunch of crank yanking. |

Thomas Vanek produced two assists and 10 shots in six games St. Louis in the opening round.
"You want to be a difference-maker this time of year," Vanek said. "The St. Louis series was tough. There wasn't much there. ... Chicago is two-time Stanley Cup champs. To me, they're still the best team in the league. For us, it's a tough task, but I think we're up for it." He is hoping to contribute more offensively in Round 2.
Don't change now Vanek, you have made millions while gliding around. - SABRES 89
Sounds like Tommy Boy is betting 50 large on the Blackhawks. |

My uncle is having dinner with his friend from the Sabres now they are at Chili's on Transit road. As of now it looks like Richardson is in the lead, that could change but that's what he was told. |

I don't hate the Richardson idea, but I don't love it either. Bringing in a guy like that makes sense when you're talking about developing a young roster. It's not just about coaching this team right now, it's about teaching the kids.
Babcock hasn't had to worry about developing players for quite a while. Pretty much everyone on Detroit's roster has spent some sort of time in the AHL.
McLellan had a pretty veteran roster as well. It would be interesting to see how either one of them would handle a roster as young as ours is going to be. |

Murray can control Richardson, he can't Babcock. I don't think he has talked to McLellan as of yet but will. |
