Incorrect. Won't know until the second round is over. - adambuffalo
Actually,
You are incorrect. The guy u responded to was right.
Teams that lose in the 1st round pick between 15-22, based on their point totals from the regular season.
The NYi pick will be 19th if Tampa wins, 18th if Detroit wins |

Patrick Sharp's contract isn't bad 2 more years at 5.9 million I know he is on the wrong side of 30 but there are still guys like him that are going to be moved.
Loui Eriksson has one more year at a 4.25 hit
Oshie has 2 more years at 4.175
Backes has 1 year at 4.5
There are guys to be had - Stripes77
I want none of them
Too old, and a UFA too soon
I'd rather we go younger (a guy like Marchand for example), and definitely should be under contract at least 2 more years, but I'd prefer if it was 3years.
We have to think about our time table, and when we can reasonably expect to contend with the big boys, not just be good enough to battle for a playoff spot & then lose one of these guys to free agency.
That would just be a waste of assets
There will be guys available, but they have to be more than just "good"
They also need to be the right fit
We also don't have too many good prospects or young NHLers that I'd be willing to trade or that other teams want...
Is StL gonna take Grigorenko & a pick for Backes? Doubtful. They'd prob want Ennis, Girgensons, etc
If that's the case, I'd just stand pat for now

from nhl.com it appears only the stanley cup winner moves to 30 everyone else falls where they finished.
Entry Draft Order
The order of selection among the Member Clubs in each season shall be determined in the following manner:
A composite of all Member Clubs shall be prepared by placing:
i) First the Clubs which failed to qualify for the preceding playoffs in the order of points earned by each of them in the regular schedule of the preceding season starting with the Club having the lowest points total and followed by the Club having the next lowest points total, and so forth.
ii) The Clubs which participated in the preceding playoffs (but had not been ranked first in their respective Divisions and had not won the Stanley Cup that season) in order of points earned by each of them in the regular schedule of the preceding season starting with the Club having the lowest total points and followed by the Club having the next lowest total points, and so forth.
iii) The Clubs which had been ranked first in their Divisions during the next preceding season (but had not won the Stanley Cup that season) in the order of points earned by each of them in the regular schedule of the preceding season starting with the Club having the lowest total points and followed by the Club having the next lowest total points, and so forth.
iv) The Stanley Cup winner shall select last, thus, positioning all Clubs on the list.
In the event of a tie for any position, such tie shall be resolved by application of the rules governing the determination of final League standings. The resulting list shall constitute the order of selection. |

Agreed, to an extent.
I think he was more of a problem though with that salary. For that money he should have been putting up Lundqvist #'s but he played like Miller.
$2M less per year and I would have been perfectly content. |

Hahaha
I HATE him on Boston, but I think he'd be a good for here
Right age, good speed, scrappy, scores goals, and can play wing on any of the top3 lines. I kinda think he's the perfect fit. Esp considering Boston could go though some major changes BC of their disappointing season & Cap troubles.

Stop pucks from going into the net..... Not real good at it
The team scoring more goals than Miller let in.. Not real good at it.
Seems like a team that doesn't go very far. |

Goaltending has never been an issue in Buffalo. Not sure why, but the guys we've had over pretty much the duration of the franchises existance have been more than serviceable. Even Lindback who was a complete tire fire prior to the trade posted respectable numbers behind an AWFUL team. |

So I just spent the morning reading through the last blog's comments and:
Kessel - No.
Oshie - No.
Backes - YES!
ROR - Not for what they're (supposedly) asking for.
I really hope we aren't planning on offer sheeting anyone. Bad idea in my opinion.
And Pierce and homie, you guys are (frank)ing crazy if you'd trade Dareus to get back into the first round this year. - ZootAllures
Why? Trading a guy that you're not going to re-sign next year for a 1st round pick is just a smart move. |
