Why? Trading a guy that you're not going to re-sign next year for a 1st round pick is just a smart move. - Pierceme69
Not going to re-sign? I think Whaley specifically mentioned Dareus as a top priority next offseason. Which he should be. He's a young, dominant DT that's improved every year. No way he's not on our team next year.

If the Sabres wind up in bottom three it's a bad sign for GMTM. He strikes me as a guy who is going to make moves, and that finish will mean the moves were bad ones ... .

Why in gods name are we not resigning Dareus? He will be their top priority. - sbroads24
Nick just signed a two year $1,25M deal last May. And as much as I like him, he's really an energy guy/character guy who adds to the top talent. I can't imagine him as Murrays top priority.
If that is your thought then yes it makes sense but your thought itself that they wont resign him is where the issue is.
If they resigned Hughes they sure as hell are going to resign Dareus or else they would have traded him by now in an attempt to get a QB. - Stripes77
Did you see the money Suh got? They aren't going to be able to afford to re-sign him. He has character issues you have to consider when making an investment of that size as well.

The guy is becoming seriously dominant, is still incredibly young and has never once complained about Buffalo, or denied his "stupidity" off the field.
Basically his whole family just died. Drag racing and smoking synthetic Marijuana are not character issues.
Aaron Hernandez had character issues.
Dareus is young and rich, and like I said, just lost a few important family members. What he did off-field is child's play.

People like you are why these athletes act like bumholes. Because all you care about is if he can stop the run. Drag racing and doing drugs means you lack in character.

Oh come on BoxScore. Dial it back a few. - TheSabresTaco
Athletes act entitled and think they are above the law because people rarely hold them accountable. As douchey as Goodell is, at least he hold the players responsible most of the time.
So your opinion on Evander Kane is.....? - sbroads24
I think he has some character issues. Hopefully he overcomes them. He is already under contract though, unlike Dareus. You have to take into consideration that another drug offense gets him half a year suspension, I believe.

Add millions to late teens/early 20's and that what ya get. I see it with my kids at 22.
Worry if they have 50 bucks on them, let alone 500,000.00
