Dubas disagreed; “Here’s the way I look at it,” he said. “Right now, we aren't good enough to be picky about smaller players. We need as many elite players as we can. If we get into playoffs and are too small, or overwhelmed, it’s easier to trade small for size than draft for size and trade for skill.”
I hope this means were drafting Marner.

He is a decent two way center
Tyler Bozak is terrible defensively and a sinkhole offensively. |

He isn't "terrible" defensively... some consideration (seriously) has to be given for the fact that the Leafs are perpetually short-handed in their own zone when that line is on the ice.
There are highlights of the two or three or perhaps its as many as four games this past season where Kessel actually made a play in his own zone.
Say what you will about Bozak... but criticizing him for being "poor defensively" is not realistic. |

actually it doesn't matter to me at all if they keep or move JVR.... but the focus should be and must remain moving Kessel and Phanuef.. regardless of how many others go... the room won't change or improve if they both are back.
someone earlier this week suggested a line of JVR Kadri and Leivo. I think that could be decent... I believe both Bozak and JVR will be better players with Kessel - the plan is too tied up in Phil being the catalyst.
just like Kessel, Phaneuf's departure will take the training wheels off Rielly - and I think most of us would agree that he(Rielly) looked awesome in Phaneuf's absence.

He wins face-offs. That's his only good "defensive" trait. I'll give him that. |

He kills penalties, back checks hard, is in the right position in the d-zone. What more do you want?
...no...wait..
He kills powerplays, checks people in the back hard, is in the right position in the d-zone for the opposing player to score...NEXT CAPTAIN! |

Kessel gave up on this team and city when he was hung out to dry after Carlyle was canned. The media made him the scapegoat and the team left him hanging. He Hasn't played for them since. The fan base has jumped right on deck. He doesn't want to play here anymore. Why would he, and why would any elite talent? He carried this team offensively since he came. Worked on his 2 way game which is far better than when he first got here, been Top 5 in scoring, but gets blamed for all team fails? His diet and conditioning are always under fire, but he's in better shape than most of the 80s Oilers and they are mostly hall of famers.
We don't deserve superstars, because we pick apart their weaknesses for a storyline.
I wish him well. |

He really isn't that good in his own end, lots of times as soon as he hits his own blue line he doesn't take another stride just glides in their.. but don't tell anyone as far as I'm concerned until he gets traded he's a great two way center who can score 50 points.. |
