Perron-Sid-Hornqvist
JvR-Malkin-Yakupov
might be possible??? - YouMeAndDupuis9
That would be, because that's what it will be - 2 lines! no 3rd or 4th just 2 (maybe a couple of spare parts lying around). |

Honestly Pens fans... we need to sit back, hold on to our picks and prospects and be patient for 2-3 years. This win now BS needs to end. I know we have 2 "generational" talents, but our franchise is in rough shape moving forward. I say we stand pretty well pat and hope our "core" can squeeze us into the playoffs the next couple of years as we re-build the farm. I know its tough to swallow with Malkin, Crosby, Letang and Fluery exiting their primes, but this constant flow of picks and prospects for rentals or other teams problem childs needs to end.
Look at the east NYI- team on the upswing, FLA- upswing, Buff- upswing, NYR- they dont have a huge prospect pool, but they are positioned to be good for atleast 3-4 more year, Bos- they'll bounce back, Washington- nuetral, Montreal- good young team will continue to compete for atleast anouther 3-4 years, ottawa- on the upswing, tb- young, competing already, will continue to compete for atleast another 4-5 years, clb- on the upswing, if not for injuries would be in the playoffs this year, det- nuetral Nj- tire fire, Tor- tire fire, Carolina- tire fire, fylers- nuetral... basically what im saying is there are alot of teams that missed the playoffs in the east this season posed to improved moving forward...and unfortunetly we are one of the teams that may loose our spot to one of the up and coming teams.... basically the next two season in my opinion we are defiently above nj, tor, carolina and philly... will be competing with clb, fla, det, bos, washington, ottawa, buffalo (maybe 2 years away) for palyoff spots, and i'd think nyr, nyi, mon, tb are all stong holds on playoff spots for the next couple of years.
The Pens can continue to make the playoffs in the comnig seasons, but contenders, we are not... I'd make a modest FA signing this year, such as a matt Belesky, keep one of Winnik or Comeau (who ever will sign a 2yr deal cheaper) and stand pat... let our small crop of prospects battle for spots in the bottom 6.. make some internal comptition to lit fires under guys..... hold onto our 2nd this year, and our top 3 picks next year and the year after, Maatta, Pouliout, Kapenan, Sundqvist, Harringing, Dumo, Jarry and Murray all stay.... at most move on of Harrignton, Dumo... our cupboards are too bare to continue moving pieces... next season run
Perron- Crosby- Hornqvist
Belesky- Malkin- Bennett
Kunitz- Sutter- Dupuis
Spaling- Sundqvist- Comeau or Winnink
In Wbs fighting for Bennett/Sundqvist spots/ injury call ups- Kapanen/ Rust/ Wilson
-Bennett on 2nd line, i say give him a chance early- if not shuffle lines and one of Kunitz, Dupuis or Comeau comes into this spot, MAYBE Kap if he proves he can play at an NHL level.
Letang- Mattaa
Lovejoy- Pouliot
Cole- Dumoulin
Harrington- Chorney
Sign an experienced 25-30 year old dman on a 2 way contract for extra depth such as a Chroney, Mikkelson type guy...bad enough to take a 2 way, but has some NHL expereince...
Fleury
Zatkoff
Murray/Jarry to split time in WBS
Is it a cup contending team? Probably not... but its good enough to make the dance and anything can happen from there..... take the next 2-3 years developing the couple young assests we have and saving our draft picks... hopefully in 2-3 years we have a couple guys on ELC contracts to take over Kunitz, Dupuis, Comeau/Winnik spots as thier contract expires and we can take a run another run in 2018/2019 before Crosby/ Malkins window compeltely closes. |

Kap and Dumo both so, so, so needed and 2 of about 5 prospects the Pens have I have hope for. Even though JvR is on a good contract..trying to use some perspective. We can get about plenty of years out of Kap and Dumo where they don't cost $4M combined.
Would I trade both for JvR? I'd prefer to start that negotiation with Sutter. But as a greedy, win now, need an effing wing solution, obsessive fan....I'd make the trade. - YouMeAndDupuis9
i dont think sutter/harrington brings in jvr. if it does, it be all for that too. |

Orpik throwing the body around. I miss that. Don't miss some of his crappy play the last couple, but he's still punishing guys. |

We had that with Despres. And he was much more mobile and could actually handle the puck well.

Wow, alot of people really reaching on here.
RW blog explains perfectly why we need to move Malkin. If we dont then look at what our future holds, picking up scraps that other teams dont want and hoping they workout.
We are missing 2 top six forwards, Kunitz can't keep up in that roll anymore and is anyone on here really happy with Comeau on Malkins wing? Kapanen isnt going to cut it, he didnt even dominate in Finland why does anyone think he is ready to put up top six numbers in the NHL?
The team needs a real overhaul, and it needed to happen 2 years ago.
Trade Malkin for two top six players one being a center (for instance, Backes and Schwatz or O'Reilly and Duchene)
There are no top six players in this years UFA class. We could probably trade Pouliot or Maata for a top six, but why when you can trade Malkin for two of them and keep our high end dmen on low cost contracts.
The Metro is a meat grinder next year, we couldnt win there this year, anyone confident we do next year? |

Do you suffer from bipolar disorder? You were mindlessly optimistic in the season, now you're all sorts of pessimistic. Jokinen and Neal were very good top 6 wingers and neither were much for acquisition due to relatively low perceived value. Not saying it will definitely happen, but it's far from impossible. |

Next year let the Rags or Caps fight out a place without 3 of their top 4 D men & see how they go - U bet they don't even make the playoffs.
Forget trading Geno, especially for guys that will leave in a year or 2 then what do you have????? Zero, nothing, rien! Geno turns into a big duck egg in 2 years - great plan!
You keep the quality you have & be smart with the assets you trade, you can't keep all the D prospects we have so 1 can be changed into a F we need just as it should have been with Despres ! Much rather have an outsider F wing young & fast than Lovejob. Management like that WILL kill any & all hope.
Blow it up & you have nothing but a laughing stock of a team. The only people that seemed to think we have nothing are some people on here. Get a grip people, if it was easy to win Stanley everybody would be doing it! |

I was optimistic in the post season because I honestly thought we had a chance, I thought the underdog mentality would benefit our team, and I think it did in a way. But now after watching yet another playoffs where we couldnt score I think we need a change. Malkin and Crosby are not able to overwhelm opponents anymore, there are alot of playbooks out on how to stop those two, and alot of very smart hockey minds coming up with even more for next year.
I dont want to go through another 2 years of Richarding around, I think we are closer to missing the playoffs than winning the cup with the current team setup.
I believe a monster deal breaths new life into this organization. I am not excitied for the same old anymore. |

Do you think our D had enough input in scoring?
Has Stamkos been an overwhelming force to date? Tavares? Even Toews?
It's a team sport & the top teams are getting production from their D where we aren't. If our D was more effective teams would be able to mark up & double team our Sid & Geno cannons.
Teams are just abusing them because our D is not great at offence. Put Maatta & Tanger back in then we big in to look a little more dangerous, teams won't be bald to just let them run around they will mark up allowing the F more space.
I can all but guarantee as soon as Geno was gone everyone would be crying foul wanting him back. |

I'm not against trading Malkin for one simple reason; he is injury prone. However, I don't think ownership would ever permit it so I don't believe it will ever happen. So I find it pointless to entertain the idea. Might as well consider trade offers for Scuderi. |

Caps are getting way outplayed. Holtby stealing the game so far. I hate the Rags so I would love to see them knocked out. I also think their "window" is only open for one more year at best before they start going down.

Yeah, I feel dirty rooting for the caps. I can take a shower I guess. I'm still not impressed with the Rags. Good team, but nothing special at all. If they get to the finals, I still think the Ducks or Hawks will murder them. |
