Wonderful - madmike71
I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a last second GWG in a playoff game. Holtby was stellar.

Next year let the Rags or Caps fight out a place without 3 of their top 4 D men & see how they go - U bet they don't even make the playoffs.
Forget trading Geno, especially for guys that will leave in a year or 2 then what do you have????? Zero, nothing, rien! Geno turns into a big duck egg in 2 years - great plan!
You keep the quality you have & be smart with the assets you trade, you can't keep all the D prospects we have so 1 can be changed into a F we need just as it should have been with Despres ! Much rather have an outsider F wing young & fast than Lovejob. Management like that WILL kill any & all hope.
Blow it up & you have nothing but a laughing stock of a team. The only people that seemed to think we have nothing are some people on here. Get a grip people, if it was easy to win Stanley everybody would be doing it! - Aussiepenguin

What? Why would they leave if we offere them a respectable contract? Name one player that has ever done that.
And why does anyone think that trading Malkin in blowing it up? We would still have the best player in the world, and we would have a different second line with a downgrade at center but major upgrade on wing.
Its a culture shift, not a blow up. Blow up is trading Crosby and Malkin.

Malkin doesn't want to be traded and has a full NMC and ownership likes him. He isn't going anywhere. Ultimately it's a business and until employer AND employee want to part ways, nothing can be done. Not to mention, there is nothing preventing him from just leaving for the KHL like Kovy did. |

Backstrom checked Boyle from behind to create the turnover and Rags fans are whining like Lundqvist with traffic in front about how it was targeting the head. Ovie picked it up down low and moved it in front of the net for a wide open Ward. JT Miller was literally watching the play unfold. Puck went in with 1.3 seconds left. Complete heartbreak. I love it.
EDIT: I personally thought the hit was borderline but little chance of getting called in the playoffs, much less tied with seconds left in the 3rd. |

OV tossed a pass out in front Ward poked it in with 1.5sec left on the clock. Queen was there and was square to him, but frankly didn't play it well at all. Very MAFish a couple of years ago.
Makes me soooooo happy. |

ward is getting up there, but is a clutch playoff guy.
definitely is sour grapes, but i think its hilarious if they lost off a questionable noncall. |

Again, I don't give a poop what you think. You don't add anything here.
It's pretty obvious one of two things here ...
1. Pittsburgh doesn't have the trade assets to acquire a top notch top six forward, unless you are trading 71.
2. People don't think he will ever reach anywhere close to his potential at all. Some don't like his game. I see him as a lazy Russian that plays when he wants to. - Oneonta Penguin
I'd see him as a lazy hockey player who only plays when he wants to.
You can say the same about Sutter and his regular season performances. But we don't mention his nationality.
The casual racism in this sport is baffling....
Oh and I'm not trying to single you out, your post was just the one I noticed. |

Ovie bent them over every time he was on the ice. I hate "the great 8" but he willed his team to victory. Holtby was better than Lundqvist too. |

And that edit is the problem
There should not be two sets of rules
Every series has been seriously effected by playoff rules and I think the quality of hockey has been poorer for it. |

eh. im not one to crap on lundqvist. the dude is a stud, pure and simple.
didnt see the play. but even if he cost them this game, it pales in comparison to the amount that he has single handedly won for them over the years. |

Do you think our D had enough input in scoring?
Has Stamkos been an overwhelming force to date? Tavares? Even Toews?
It's a team sport & the top teams are getting production from their D where we aren't. If our D was more effective teams would be able to mark up & double team our Sid & Geno cannons.
Teams are just abusing them because our D is not great at offence. Put Maatta & Tanger back in then we big in to look a little more dangerous, teams won't be bald to just let them run around they will mark up allowing the F more space.
I can all but guarantee as soon as Geno was gone everyone would be crying foul wanting him back. - Aussiepenguin
Yes I think the lack of D support definitely played a roll, but I also dont think our D was bad. I thought they did an excellent job limiting scoring chances, much better than the past, they gave us a chance to win and the forwards couldnt get it done.
And no Stamkos, Taveres, Toews (isnt really about that) arent over whelming their opponents, I honestly think that with the way the game is coached and played right now it will be very difficult for any forward to overwhelm which is why we need more depth.
I think a top end shutdown center would be more valuable to the Pens then Malkin.
I think building the team around Sid and more of a two way game is the better approach. |

Almost anyone would agree with that. The NHL will never be taken seriously until they make an effort to call games consistently instead of deliberately equivocate on the rules. But I don't play the blame game with refs. Pens didn't get screwed over anymore than any other team. It all evens out in the end.

You beat us four times 2-1 and twice in overtime. Yep, that is destroyed. You are a f'in idiot. Why are you here anyway? You continue to offer nothing. |
