What would Pittsburgh offer for Yakupov? - Oil_Addict
The only thing I would consider MAYBE is Sutter and maybe Harrington. He, Yak, still doesn't have high value and I hope Edmonton fans know this.

Prospects, and especially picks, generally have more universal value and can be flipped again if needed. I think there is a higher chance of Sharp continuing to decline than improving/maintaining his production. He needs to be very productive offensively to make sense at his cap hit. He's not good defensively or physical at all. At least with Semin, Carolina acknowledges they are trading a liability. That won't be a case with Sharp. - jfkst1
That's true, but then you need to find another partner that is looking for what you just got back + for a player that fits and that the other team would offer. |

Sutter or maybe Sutter + a prospect if we'd get a pick back. - znagle
The Oilers don't really have a huge need for centers right now. Nuge, McDavid, Lander, Gordon, Draisatl and they might still sign an inexpensive guy like Roy or a FA for insurance. Priorities would be goalie, defence and 3rd line LW.
Hey maybe Perron for a 1st |

They'd never do Sutter for Yak straight up. First of all I'd throw in Lovejoy. He'd be a great veteran mentor for their up and comers like Nurse and could be easily resigned. Perhaps Spaling would be enticing to them as well. Add a meh prospect and I think there's a deal to be had.
Basically, use Edmonton to dump all of our unwanted contracts and get a young talented winger who happens to be Malkin's countryman in return. |

You guys have to be joking?
A former 1st overall pick that's only 21 and signed to a great bridge deal who will be an RFA after it expires will take Pouliot+ to get. He's exactly the type of young player on a cheap contract the Pens need.
But nah, you guys will just continue to deal 1sts and 2nds for old forwards that leave as UFAs within 3 years of the trade. |

Can Semin play LW? - Id_Puck_Me
Right now, he couldn't play dead in a John Wayne movie.
Seriously ... it has been mentioned MANY MANY times that we need to get younger and faster. So, the two names brought up are Patrick Sharp, who is ON THE DECLINE AND TOOK A KUNITZ LIKE DROP-off and a 31-year old Russian who is making a ton of money, is an enigma and doesn't produce anymore. So, this is what we are left with?
Does anyone know Semin's numbers last year? 57 games and he didn't reach 20 points. In his last three years ... 41-64-105. Not great shakes.
NO TO EITHER.

I'm not joking. I pay for production, not what he could be. The guy has underachieved greatly. For all we know, he could suck the rest of the way out.
I don't give a poop if he was a former top overall pick. What exactly has he done to warrant a high price tag? He is an underachieving, moody Russian to me right now. I will wait for this answer. It should be entertaining. Be honest. |

Please don't say you don't have a problem and put Lander in as a solution. I understand goal and defense would be the top priorities, but Lander isn't good. |

Perron for the Oilers first We'll also throw in Matt Murray or Scott Harrington to sweeten the deal |

He scored 20 points in the last 23 games of the regular season after he became used correctly by the new coach.
With a kid like this, you're taking a risk. Because if you wait until Yakupov is a perennial 30 goal scorer then guess what...you can't trade for him because there's zero reason the Oilers would deal him. You have to buy low on a player like this.
Stars took a gamble on Seguin and it paid off. You think of Boston kept Seguin an extra year and he broke out that any team would be able to come close to prying him out of there? Nope. |

100% no to Semin - can anyone even imagine this guy with a cup above his head and sweat on his forehead?
Sharp only if it got ride of Scuds. I'd add another 2.5 million to our current cap to loose Scuds and add Sharp. Maybe get a pick or prospect from them too.
I could also see Dupuis and Kunitz being great value at next years deadline to slough off for 2nd and 3rd rounders even if we're heading to the promised land.
Despite Dupuis, Kunitz, and Sharp being older they are the Roberts, Guerin types that could help a youth movement with Kapanen and Sundqvist and 3-4 new young D and any other forwards we can trade for or acquire some how. |

What in the hell are you still doing in our thread, I can not wait for you guys to get eliminated. We suck, but if our series proved anything that's so do you.
Congrats on beating us, we blow; hopefully Ovi sends multiple Rags into early retirement.

If you take the time to actually watch him play the kid has all-world talent. He has his flaws like any young player but if you put him in a situation to perform with a guy like Malkin I think he absolutely tears apart the league. |

I guess the ducks suck too since Winnipeg had a lead entering the 3rd in 3 of the 4 games they lost. The jets kept it close! The ducks are doomed! |

There is quite a bit reason for Edmonton to deal him. Because they have shot comings all over the map. It's not rocket science that someone like Hall, or RNH, or Yak or Eberle has to go. One of them will have to go.
Sutter and Harrington would be my take it or leave it offer because we have nothing else to deal, because most want to keep together this stale core of players.
I really don't give a poop about your opinion either. |

A package similar to Seguin although minus one piece. So a top 6 forward that has a lower ceiling than Yak and 2 good prospects. |
