I don't care, just somewhere else. If JR wants him in Pittsburgh, I want him ready to move. - el conquistador
I don't know why JR would want him here now with all the heat on him. Semin is useless.
No one has every answered this question I posed to the board. Why was it Washington didn't sign him to a long term contract, but went year to year with him? They knew all about him. |

I honestly think that this team can right its own ship if we can unload Kuni, Scuds, Adams (gone), and most of all Sutturd.

No he wouldn't. Downie for all his faults is at least a decent offensive producer. Engo is trash. - jfkst1
We were pretty weak and beat up on the blue line...how many pims and the whining that added to it was caused by downie. And I liked downie here..but in the end...engo is playing a decent roll for a team that is still playing. Downie is gone. Lets not forget..no one would have said calgary had a better roster than the pens. Engo at 1mil and I woulda been thrilled to have him. |

Semin at 3.5 could very well be much worse that Sutter. Did you look at Semin's numbers last year? 57 games ... 6-13-19 with better talent than Sutter had this year.
That is a risky second line that could explode, or be a total dud. Stafford makes me cringe. - Oneonta Penguin
How about Sutter and a 4th for JVR and Kadri?
You act as if teams are going knock down Rutherfords door to give away quality young players to help you.
Realistically, I think the best way for you guys to improve is through free agency. You can bring in guys without sacrificing assets and down the road you can deal them as deadline rentals for draft picks to restock the pool. Think of it as buying draft picks. |

He wouldn't, there is 0 chance we get Semin.
He is the epitome of the kind of player this team does not need.

Semin has issues but I also think he was used as a scapegoat in Washington when they consistently failed in the playoffs. |

Sutter and Harrington isn't happening and we know this. However, the problem is that is what we have to offer. Unless they would want Kunitz, Spaling, or Scuderi. Unless people want to start moving to the dark side, which I'm on and entertaining the notion of trading ... you know who?
Sutter and a second? We have only a second and a seventh in this draft. So, you just want to have a mid seventh round as your only pick? We don't have a second next year ... it went to Toronto for Winnik. - Oneonta Penguin
I meant trade Sutter for 2 and 3 round picks. i.e. move him for multiple assets.... |

Semin is worse than useless. He stands around on the ice, away from the puck, most of the time. He's open, a lot. If he has the puck and somebody gets near him, he will make a suicide pass to somebody to avoid any contact. Watching him on TV does not do his uselessness justice. The camera follows the action, and he's usually off in a corner, not paying attention. The best part of his shift is when he crawls back onto the bench.

So what? He's terrible. He's literally paid 3 times more than he is worth. It's as bad as paying Scuderi $3.3m/yr.

Maybe he is just counting the number of fans in the stands.

You responded to a post where I said Semin is garbage; he is worse than Sutter who played with LESS talent and put up better numbers. I commented on the posters second like as being risky and Stafford makes me itch and you come up with the Sutter and a 4th for JVR and Kadri?
Grow the f up.
We have zero trade assets unless Malkin is on the table ... this is a poopty year for free agents who will be overpaid and overtermed. Not a good year to be in our position. |

Yup...I wanted tanger traded instead of re-upped...but who am I really. Where he is now though was predictable. ..he in injury prone..always has been. He had massive appeal league wide when we cut him a huge paycheck. Staal was also offered too much..and got over paid. But even at 6mil as a second center. I could live with it. Also if u had traded tanger at peak...you clearly are getting a solid center at least plus a few youngsters. - taleisyreXIII
100% agree. It was set up perfectly to deal him at the draft but instead Shero and his infatuation with defensemen extended him. Even though his value is no where near what it was, he still has value and hands down, he is the best candidate to be moved. |

They'd never do Sutter for Yak straight up. First of all I'd throw in Lovejoy. He'd be a great veteran mentor for their up and comers like Nurse and could be easily resigned. Perhaps Spaling would be enticing to them as well. Add a meh prospect and I think there's a deal to be had.
Basically, use Edmonton to dump all of our unwanted contracts and get a young talented winger who happens to be Malkin's countryman in return. - Victoro311
haha i mean when you put it that way, why in the world would they say no? |

Waste of Crosby's prime though. - Nucker101
Staying the course we're on now could be a waste of his prime too. Only way to really retool the roster is trading 58 or 71. I'd rather trade 71 and get the larger haul. |

You forgot you were told by five people you have zero value here and aren't wanted. Maybe that should be a clue. |
