It's not all doom and gloom in my opinion. After crushing the sh!tty nucks they were in a tough spot. Travelling to Anaheim to play a well rested, confident Ducks team you had to figure it wouldn't be easy.

Sure, it was a surprise it was that lopsided, but meh, it's a learning experience too. They will be much better on Sunday. They might still lose but they will be more prepared.

One positive I thought was Bennett. He was not intimidated nor did the score effect the way he played. Lots of grit, heart, and hustle even when it was 6-1.

Ducks are crazy good though, look primed to win a cup in my opinion.

Agree on Bennett. Liked how he handled his own goal as well, no big celebration just back to work. He's going to be a great player for a long time with this organization.

Yeah I have to agree...didnt look like Flames hockey to me

Last night we were shown the difference between a borderline playoff team and a cup contender ...I think our D was hit more last night than the entire first round ...many ppl on here are hopeful that the boys can make it a series but no matter what I'm glad that if they go out it will be to a legit cup team and they can see just how far away and how much work is needed ...not says it's over but it's an eye opener for the kids ....that's a ducks team that right now has zero deficiencies playing a smaller banged up rebuilding team

You need to get a little realistic here. We came into this season being a bottom 5 team with a lot of young players with potential. We are right now amongst the last 8 teams competing for the Stanley Cup in May. No matter what happens, this team is not an embarrassment & its sad you saw it that way. Last night was a reality check of what we have achieved & how far we have to go yet in our rebuild. Trelivings job is far from done.

You totally misread what I said. That game was an embarrassment, and you''re kidding yourself if you think otherwise. The team's success this year, is not an embarrassment - far from it. Even if we lose a game I'm ok with it at this point, but that was a blowout, and we know this team can play much better.

Benched? No point risking injury when the game is out of hand. The first line minutes were down across the board due to this. Game 2 will be much closer. May not be a win but certainly won't be ugly. I still believe

After sitting with the sting of sore losses, I gotta say, The Flames are more clutch, and have more heart than any in the league. If you're going down, go down swinging, but I wish you guys the best in the series.

Shhh! Thank God we get Paul Romanuk. If anyone hears you they might flip us back to CBC and the Hughson / Simpson tandem. It was so painful listening to them during the Vancouver series. Mike Johnston needs a bit more seasoning, but I don't mind how he and Romanuk interact.


As for the series, I'd love the Flames to win(obviously), but if they aren't going to win the cup(which they likely won), I'd rather they lose in this round and they pick 15th in the draft for each round. If they find a way to win this series, they will be picking 27th - 30th in the draft. I'd like to have our cake AND eat it too. Make the play-offs, win a round, and still draft in the top 15. What more could you ask for this early in a rebuild? Other than missing the playoffs and winning the draft lottery. We've seen how painful that kind of rebuild can be. Our young guys(future leaders) are learning some valuable lessons and getting great experience, win or lose!
