I won't doubt that, but I'd take a younger/cheaper Foligno to play on my third line than a 3.5-4M Stewart.

You don't just plug in 5-7 new players, especially if most of them are basically rookies, and climb 15 places in the standings.

We'll most likely be better than TO and Arizona and possibly NJ or Carolina.

Tell me who, beyond those teams, we will overtake.

Great point, building off this we were 17 points behind 5th to last (canes). Thats a 7.5 win improvement. We also stole a lot of wins with hot goaltending. We have a REALLY young team and need to remember that risto eichel reinhart are not kieth, toews, kane.

IMO the jump from rock bottom-> normal bottom will be the biggest step. We need to focus on chemistry and puck possession.

both. Crosby lead penguins still finished in last place in his first year.

Teams generally only make 15-20 point increases per year. Again Calgary falls in-line with that.

Buffalo is going to have a young defense, and young center ice position. Two positions which need to be your strongest when making the playoffs.

FWIW the Ducks don't have a Norris Trophy candidate on their roster.

I also think Risto and Zadorov could be comparable or better than Fowler and Lindholm. I won't say Vatanen, because he's insane.

If the kids all develop considerably this team shouldn't be in the bottom 5. But I think they still miss the playoffs. I think they make it the following year.

Just my gut feeling. I honestly see them falling somewhere in the 8-12 range if things go their way next year.

All things remaining the same and Buffalo gets 30 points better next year. They still finish 12th in the conference.

Buffalo mgmt tanked the players did not, a lot of those players are still going to be here next year.

Again a slow-steady increase over the next two years, and then we are in the playoff conversation.
