Sharp- if you can get him for a good deal to help the hawks cap issues...why not?
Moulson- he has never been expected to be the star. He was brought here to be the same player he has been forever (complementary winger). I think murray knew in a few years we would have 2 solid centers to feed him. Last year we didnt, but at least we arent paying him like a star, 5 million seems like a lot but isnt that much of a hit with all of these young players earning their deals. He doesnt make mistakes and can put the puck in the net if someone can get it to him |

You need more than one competent winger. That way when Ennis gets hurt you don't have someone like Phil Varone AHL'ing his way to the top line - sbroads24
I think you're going a little overboard with your example
All I'm saying...
For example...
Why not trade for say Marchand or Lucic over Sharp?
Yes, they'd cost us more...
But wasting assets on a guy that won't be around when we are ready to compete for the Cup doesn't make sense to me
Let's get a guy that will still be around to help these guys! |

Don't vet rentals usually go for a 2nd round pick?
Plus,
How do we know that's all Sharp would cost?
What's this "hell of a lot more" u think we'd have to pay? - jdfitz77
Remember the 1st round pick we got for Gaustad?
We don't know what anyone will end up costing until it actually happens, but traditionally, it costs more for those guys at the deadline. |

I don't think it's a waste at all. It's a low cost move.
I don't get it, people are fine with Murray throwing around 1st and 2nd round picks and people defend it saying that they probably won't turn out or whatever, yet Sharp for a 2nd rounder is a waste? |

This.
Nobody is saying we have to go out and get Sharp, but if the price is right, I'm fine with it. |

I'm late to the convo, but does anyone know if Sharp has a NMC?
I'm betting if you ask him, Buffalo is one of the last places he'd want to go |

I guess I would be "fine"with it also. I just think there will be the opportunity to do better. |

It was said earlier that he does. I believe he was rumored to the caps at the deadline.

Richards and Carter were center pieces to their cup. It cost the Kings 1st round picks and prospects to get them.
We aren't talking about a player like that. If there were one available that the Sabres could get, that fits, than by all means, but there might not be - sbroads24
And if they aren't,
I'm not gonna settle for Sharp
I'd rather play Hodgson in the top6 this year
Get his trade value back up
Then move Hodgson & that 2nd I didn't use to trade for Sharp and maybe a prospect to get a good younger top6 winger

Loui Eriksson comes to mind.
Carl Hagelin
Michael Frolik

Not sure if this was posted: Eichel: Second among USA forwards with 18:47 TOI. Impressive for his 3rd pro-like game. |

You could be right, but he has played on a team with a guy from here for the last however many years. I would imagine he's actually heard some good stuff about the city. Plus, he's from Winnipeg originally. Can't be much worse than that. And maybe he would be intrigued by the idea of playing with Eichel.
Who knows. It probably won't happen but the Hawks are going to need to move someone because they're in serious cap trouble. |

I think we would have to shoot higher than that if we want top 6. It won't come via UFA.

I'm ok with Hodgson for another year, but I still think Sharp should be at least considered. If they don't want him I won't lose sleep.
What I don't want is another Moulson at 31 years old signed for 5 years. |

No chance of that happening. I'd buy him out in the window that is open right now as it is closing soon. |

The price to get one of those younger guys is going to be A LOT higher, that's why. You do remember what LA gave up to get Richards right? Brayden Schenn, who was expected to be a #1 center at the time. Now, things haven't worked out exactly that way in his career progression, but it was seen as a very risky move for LA to trade a young player with that kind of upside. So, you may be able to find a guy like that, but say goodbye to someone like Girgensons, Reinhart, or Risto. I'm not sure that's in our best interest right now either. - HonkFortheGoose
I don't really wanna trade those guys either
What do u think Marchand would cost?
I don't think one of those guys
Sharp is also overrated at this point for me
He's still ok
But he's not a top line winger
Not even close |

Getting the Hodgson back that we saw 2 years ago is addition without subtraction. I'm all for it. I think there was a lot going on behind the scenes between him and Nolan. He has the talent, but he certainly wasn't being utilized correctly. |

His game is steadily improving from game to game. Not sure what his final FO stats were, but at one point today he had won 12 of 16, and he was going up against Malkin for most of them I believe. |

He is what he is - a slow, soft winger. If we don't buy him out soon he will cost more against the cap. Sure, he put up some points with Vanek and Pommer. So did Luke Adam. |

I honestly have no idea what Marchand would cost. It's going to be hard to gauge too, since Chiarelli got fired. Have they even named a new GM yet? I don't remember hearing if they did, but I may have missed it. |

Not everyone needs to be a huge physical guy out there. Pominville is a "soft" player, but he's still effective. |

I did not know that.
Good point, ma'am.
Ironically, I have dealings with colleagues from Winnipeg at work, and not many of them have great things to say about the place. Some are transplants, some are native, most aren't happy.
