Just simplify it, Patches, Galch, 1st for Malkin.
Trade/worry about all the secondary pieces later.
MTL has DD on their top line, and Therrien as their coach, they should have the motivation to acquire Malkin. - YouMeAndDupuis9

Actually Znags got banned for that one. Not sure what Bartley got banned for. Probably just general existence. He's the Matt Cooke of this board. |

Same over here. Quite confusing, I thought he was trying to spread the gospel of Bartley. Didn't know he was out there doing the good Lord's work as well. |

I was banned on the Rags board for two weeks by using the word "idiot".
I contested it, showing pages where the Rags fans discussed beastiality, and the Rangers team gangbanging another user's gf while the one announcer gives a play by play... none of them got a bann or even delete. The mod even contributed to the first topic and thought that was ok after messaging me that their board is "family friendly".
So yeah, I'm just not going back there. They are nearly as bad are Leaf fans now. |

Might be moreso due to being a 2nd account... isn't that supposed to get auto banned if you do that to bypass a currently in effect bann? |

As someone who said a minor rebuild and two years ... you seem to have this minor rebuild done in the matter of weeks. Not opposed to this. I don't think Montreal would do that. You take Patches, Gallagher and Galchenyuk away; that gives them Malkin, Sutter, Plekanec and Desharnais. That is a lot worse than what they had.
However, I do think they need a shakeup. When two of your top four scorers/point producers are defensemen, then ...
Yep, they have some nice pieces. - Oneonta Penguin
This post was pretty much a joke. Mtl wouldn't do this deal. |

Yea, no way they'd give us Gallagher, even if we include all our poopty pieces along with Malkin.
Patches, Galchenyuk, 1st is a fair trade for Malkin... and debatable whether either team would do it |

Pittsburgh should jump at that deal. There is no question about that. That is a no brainer. I doubt Montreal jumps. It makes them worse IMO. |

From the *experts already, Soderberg is said to have an expected cap hit of 3mill AAV, but wants term. 5 year 15 mill for him. It could force Sundqvist to wing, which might be easier to for him earlier in his career to jump right in.
The problem is, a lot of teams will be gunning for him. Trading Sutter would have to wait until he signs, in order to get the best value you grab someone who wanted Carl and sell them on Sutter.
If we sign him then try to trade Sutter it puts of the wrong message about Sutter. - usethe1-2-2
Just saw this post. I'd give him his term. I don't think a player like Sods merits a NTC, so we can always move him down the road. And that's probably good for Sundqvist. He got moved to LW in Europe, so we can start him off there and see if he develops into a Power Forward winger like we've always wanted. Plus, its extra depth at C for when Sid or Geno get hurt. Sods has shown he can handle the 2C and then we have options at 3C that aren't Nick Spaling or Marcel Goc.
And I don't exactly think it sends the wrong message about Sutter. We've played him at wing before and he's been moderately successful. We can sell people that we signed Sods so that we could use Sutter to fix our top 6 issues.
This is a good play. We get a 3C that's better than Sutter and cheaper and we can flip Sutter for assets. These can be prospects, or draft picks to get prospects. |

I think MTL would be fine. Again, DD is on their top line. Malkin is exactly what they need. Malkin, Gallagher, PAP, Smith-Pelly, Plekanec, Scherbak, DD...there is still some decent top 6 options. And we all know Malkin doesnt need superstar wingers |

I think the key is timing on flipping Sutter. The draft seems like the best time to make a move, but then you are hung out to dry if you can't sign Soderberg (unless you think guys like Richards or Vermette would sign a one year cheap deal here) |

I agree with you. Honestly, where we are, I'd take the gamble and flip Sutter. Sutter needs to be flipped from an assets point of view. Although I'd like to flip Spaling too, he can be our insurance if we miss out on 3C signings. Still think one of Magic Mike's biggest blunders last season was not giving Spaling a look at 3C to see what he could do there. |
