Does it mean you need Desharnais??? - Mike Komisarek
No. But at least he is somewhat a competent player. The fact I said for starters means there are other problems with your idea. |

No
Closest we could come to that would be DP, Bennett (although I think he breaks out next year) and Tristian Jarry. - znagle
You must mean Bennett breaks entirely this year |

tough....
kunitz, 1st round pick next year, maata
for
kessel, $10,000 mcdonalds gift card to keep him happy - clark_griswold
Maatta wouldn't be going anywhere for fat boy. One of the last players Pittsburgh needs is Phill. |

Reason im asking about DP is i've been wondering if i take a flyer on him in my keeper fantasy pool next year. I was shocked to see him getting so much PP time at season's end.
sounds to me like you guys think he's gonna be an offensive stud? if so i'm definately taking him - clark_griswold
I would keep him if I had him, because its a given Letang will get injured and miss 20 games or more in 2015-16. |

Obviously I don't consider this as a solution for this season, but what do you guys think of Conor Sheary? I would think his size is prohibitive but the dude keeps racking up points in the AHL and is only 22. Do you think he could end up in the NHL or do you think he's Gibbons 2.0? |

But seriously, do you think Pittsburgh would trade Malkin? What would it take? |

No, we won't trade Malkin, unless its an obscenely gross overpayment |

If Pittsburgh wants to move forward as an organization and full the major holes this franchise has, trading Malkin is the only way to go about fixing the problems. It brings much needed assets back that we don't have available on the farm. Continually relying on the same four-man core that has yielded very little in the last five years is nothing more than status quo and won't bring Pittsburgh a good chance to win a Cup anytime soon. We have few assets available that we can truly afford to deal.
What would it take from you? A top six forward (Patches), a good young roster player (no, not a Dman or Brandon Prust) and a decent prospect. |

Pacioretty, De La Rose, McCarron
But I guess you would prefer Pacioretty, Eller or Galchenyuk or Gallagher, Scherbak??? |

I consider De La Rose still a prospect even though he played in 34 games. I'm thinking a young, but proven kid. If De La Rose is the prospect, then I'm all ears. |

Pacioretty, Eller and De La Rose for Malkin?
I do not think Montreal would do it. Pacioretty cap hit at 4.5M$ is amazing, I really like Eller (but I know many Habs fan hate him ) and De La Rose should be very solid! |

Eller doesn't do anything for me or for the Pens IMO. |

The going rate would be a top line winger (pac), a player to replace him (galch) and then a high prospect. I would do this trade any day of the week, I would rather have a full team than a second superstar that causes both 87 and 71 to have mediocre wingers. |

I'm hoping he is more Tyler Johnson than Brian Gibbons, but probably will never be more than a 4th liner or partial 3rd. Even at that, he is a cheap speed guy who has a good shot. What is wrong with that on the 4th line? |

There is zero incentive for Montreal to do that. IMO, they are a worse team for making that deal. It doesn't matter if that second name is Gallagher or Galchenyuk, is Malkin's current value worth those three pieces? I don't think so.
You need to add Sutter going back if that is what you want.

I don't know too much on him, but numbers wise Scherbak looks like the better prospect |

Yes, he is a top 5 player in the NHL. If Perron goes for a first, what do you expect malkin to go for? Pac, a part time roster player and so-so prospect? Not happening. |
