Hockey history is littered with teams that did just that. - Slump Buster
It's not though.
Look at the cup winners Sv% over the last decade or so. Most were playing at an all world level when they won.

If we had a good coach this year, do you think the results would have been any different? |

20 more points
special teams alone would have increased our point total 12 or 14 points if they were closer to average then last
basic skills were lacking under chief Isleptwithernot

Miller was not worthy of being a fantasy goalie unless it was a 12 team league, other then a few spot starts |

IMO, God himself couldn't have coached this team to 10 more wins, we were that bad. I'm not discounting a good coach but it always comes down to players. You either have good ones or you don't and you will never win anything without good players.
If Babcock goes to Edmonton, he will fail miserably unless they get some defenseman and a goalie. |

I never understood why Fantasy hockey uses individual goalies
football uses team d and special teams
baseball uses team pitching staff
let each team draft 2 slots for the nhl team net-minders
makes it a lot more user friendly for the casual fan that can't change lineups at 655 pm |

team was flat more often then not in 3rd period
team lost a lot of 1 goal games
many games special teams were at least 2 goals in favor of the opposition
IMO a decent coach gets them 8 more wins and 4 more games into OT |

Sure, and that is my point. Anyone can jump up to that level during a cup run. It happens almost every year. |

Without excellent goaltending for almost every win we had this year, we could have easily had 20 less points.
I guess our opinions are just different. |

I have very little I can add to the coaching discusion that hasn't been kicked around for weeks already.
Therefore:
I like eggs, and I like olives, but I don't like eggs and olives. - Der Kaiser
So you've said.
I like:
Babcock - won't get him.
McLellan - won't get him.
Bylsma - have a legit shot. Many people don't like him. DGAF.
Boucher - always liked him. Love his fiery 'tude. Like a hockey John Gruden. Again, many don't like him. Again, DGAF.
In the "please, God, no" category for me:
Deboer - rhymes with "snore".
Tortorella - rhymes with "d!ckhead".
Hitch (if fired) - within 2 years we - and our players - will all hate him. Save the trouble.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it. |

I find it funny you say Deboer rhymes with snore yet Boucher will lull you to sleep with his style of play |

Hmm, not so sure the speculation that he'd return no matter what if offered a contract holds true anymore:
“They had only one goal…The goal was to come last,” Enroth said (via Google Translate) of the Sabres’ abysmal season.
"I was not too happy with it [the trade] when it happened, but when I look back on it now, I'm very happy that I was traded," Enroth said. |

More preference for me.
Debore (yup) looks like he couldn't inspire a crackhead on a Friday night score. |

Mission accomplished. There's plenty of goalies that can do as well or better than him. |
