Only one in the past 10 years where the Flyers drafted better than the Rangers, huh?
Would you rather have:
JvR or Cherapanov (assuming Cherapanov didn't die)
Couturier or Miller
Laughton or Skjei (Laughton does have an OHL scoring championship) - jmatchett383
oh I am wishing somebody here would die, that's for sure |

The Rangers never had a shot at any of them. Now if you were to go Giroux-Snguinetti. Answer is obvious. |

Still like Miller over Couturier in the end. Couturier is a little better skilled version of Dom Moore.
Not exactly a steal for a top ten pick. |

Or Kubina for two second round picks. That brings back some good memories. |

The guy who was 9th in Selke voting at 20 years old is "a little better skilled version of Dom Moore?" Damn, I didn't know how great of a player Dom Moore was at 20. |

Very true. Couturier is still very skilled. He's also saddled with poop line mates. But yeah his stock has really fallen from his draft hype. |

I knew it was a racehorse. Love the Ponies. Got my clock cleaned on the Derby though. Dortmund. - tomburton99
Yeah, I'm a huge fan. I used to be able to list off just about every Derby winner back to the 30's, which is useless unless you play a lot of pub trivia, but somehow I could retain the names. Hope the sport gets a Triple Crown winner to get some life back into it.
As for Upset, that was almost a hundred years ago, so it's pretty normal not to recognize him. |

Gloating about ninth in defensive forward of the year awards? It comes to that now, doesn't it? |

Well we can't all trade our captain and 2 consecutive first rounders for an aging superstar who has 3 points in the playoffs. |

I think the worst drafting crowns are locked in a three way battle between the Penguins, the Leafs and the Devils. - MidnightMarauder

I'm still relatively young. But I know about stuff from like back to the 70's. Thanks for the Upset story though. Little bit of info never hurts. |

He's still young and can easily turn into a great two way center for the next decade. To now though, unless he is playing Pittsburgh, I have never been impressed with him. |

Thanks. Is it an offset smoker or a dual smoker/grill?
My buddy swears by the green egg but it's expensive. I think I'd rather start with some sort of offset smoker and get good at that before I invest more $. Plus, I have little ones that take up a lot of time that I can't devote to the grill, so I'm always concerned I'll spend the money and then the thing will sit there unused for awhile. I need to look into a dual grill/smoker I think so I make sure it gets used. - WineryDog
I have a Masterbuilt electric that was pretty inexpensive. It's very easy to work with. The better smokers are wood or charcoal, like the green egg, but mine is easy and works fine. It has a glass window so I can watch the progress. |

No offense, but the Giroux pick is literally the only one you can hang over Rangers fans heads in the last ten years. - MidnightMarauder
had the lottery gone their way, the flyers would have kane instead of luke schenn. my god, that hurts just typing this.

Thanks. I think I need to get a basic one and if I use it as much as I think I will, then I can upgrade. I'm sure the ceramic egg is great. It's just too expensive ($1100 for the big one with all the add ons). - WineryDog
A few years ago my wife got me a Chargriller for my birthday. It has turned out some pretty awesome Q. Salmon, pulled chicken, wings, pork, shrimp, tomatoes, garlic, you get the idea. You could smoke a turd and it would be delicious.

for once?
the flyers have a long list of excellent first round picks. unfortunately for them, many have gone on to nice careers after they've left the flyers because they were impatient or made trades to deal with an injury problem. patrick sharp is a great example (although he was a 3rd rounder). justin williams is another. carter, richards, gagne, giroux....most of these guys were picked in the 20s.
they've done poorly in later rounds, and often haven't had many picks in those rounds for reasons mentioned above.
they absolutely have dead weight that needs to be cleared, but there's a nice nucleus of talent up front, a very solid goalie, and some terrific defensive prospects all being groomed right now. they'll get a very nice player with the #7 pick and maybe some diamonds in the rough with all the others hextall has stockpiled. they won't be a contender over night, but in 3-5 years they should much much better team.
i don't know how you can say "worst drafting team by far since 2006"? can you back that up? and in case you haven't noticed, that gm, paul holmgren is no longer the gm. hextall had an outstanding draft last year, his first. he'll likely do even better this time around because of the depth and number of picks they have. - hammarby31
Cmon man. You even have to admit the flyers were probably bottom 5 in drafting.

They have some cheaper ceramic eggs. Best thing you could probably do is search the interwebs or some of the smoker forums. Probably get some real good info on there. Good luck |

Kane definitely changes the game. But JvR was no slouch; an absolutely inexcusable trade made there. |
