The Rangers never had a shot at any of them. Now if you were to go Giroux-Snguinetti. Answer is obvious. - tomburton99
clarke couldn't even remember giroux's name. not so obvious! |

Thanks for answering my question in a prompt manner. - MidnightMarauder
Any time.
Seriously though, the Rangers are one of the last teams that should be talking about success with first-round picks.
Now, talking about picks after the first and some crazy good trades, that's a different story. |

Very true. Couturier is still very skilled. He's also saddled with poop line mates. But yeah his stock has really fallen from his draft hype. - tomburton99
he's been misused and been saddled with poop. if he becomes nothing more than a defensive specialist, i can live with that, but his ceiling is higher. i think that will start to become evident. |

And now he is the best this franchise can claim since pre-concussion Lindros. |

Kane definitely changes the game. But JvR was no slouch; an absolutely inexcusable trade made there. - MidnightMarauder
Holmgren had a great start to his Philadelphia tenure, and then fell off starting with the 27th-for-Eminger trade and trying to patch up the fallout from the Pronger injury. Hextall seems to actually have a clue, and Sanheim looks like a fantastic start from last year. Led all WHL defensemen in scoring, which is a nice sign. |

Cmon man. You even have to admit the flyers were probably bottom 5 in drafting. - Just5
they don't have much to show for in the last 10 years, that's true. but worst? i disagree. and as i said before, we have a new sheriff in town. i like what's he's done so far. |

I don't think anyone on here disagrees with that. That's why it never bugs me when the Rangers trade their 1st rounder. Whether it is through college free agents or late round steals the Rangers usually find a way to fill the gaps |

I don't recall any Rangers fans claiming their team was a first round pick model of success though. It was a Flyers fan that was trashing the Rangers lack of first round draft picks and how the Flyers have two, in this upcoming draft, that started this nonsense. |

If we're talking just draft picks, Lindros wasn't technically a Flyer draft pick. |

Sanheim and another Swedish born defender are the Flyers best prospects, correct? |

I'm aware but he broke in with Philly and had his best days, in the NHL, during his early Flyer years. |

Should we have traded the 19th pick in the 1st round in 2009? |

The only reason I'm happy the Flyers have 2 is that this draft is deep, where a late first rounder could be equivalent to a top-10 pick in most.
That said, Holmgren made some very curious drafts over his tenure, but I like the Laughton and Morin picks. And I think Laughton has a ton more upside than Skjei. |

Hagg has had some bumps along the way, but has all the physical tools. Ghostisbehere was injured most of last season, but god damn he is exciting to watch in person.
Morin is an assistant on Rimouski and played for Canada at the WJC.
Sanheim exploded about 5 levels this season. |

Bringing up Lindros wasn't pertaining to former first round picks. I brought him up in explaining how despite Clarke not remembering Giroux's name, when drafting him, he has turned out to be the best player the Flyers had since Lindros in his prime. |

I see. Well, it's about time they concentrated on grooming their own blueline. |
