I will enjoy seeing them lose. St. Louis lost some respect from me with that whole Tampa thing.
Not the same level of hate as Jersey or Toronto, but despise them none the less. An Anaheim Tampa/Caps final would be cool. Id like to see OV win it finally. - flyer_nutter
i hate tampa too, but i'm much happier with them getting past muntreal. i can see an anaheim/caps final. it would be good hockey. i like the caps. they're playing well and it's nice to see Ovi really bust it on every shift.
as long as ny, chicago or montreal don't win, it's all good. |

I'd be happy with TB or Washington beating Chicago or Anaheim in the Finals. For the Flyers' sake, I hope it's Chicago.
By the way, to clear things up: For the Chicago draft pick to be a second, please help me with the wording. Is it:
The Blackhawks must make the Stanley Cup Finals and Timonen must dress in half of the games required to make the Finals (i.e. half of the game the Hakws play in Rounds 1-3)
or
The Blackhawks must make the Stanley Cup Finals and Timonen must dress in half of the games including the Finals (i.e. half of the game the Hakws play in all 4 rounds)? |

Hawks must make final and Timonen needs to play in half of their total games. |

So, say they play 6 games in each round, he has to dress in at least 12 games, not 9? |

I'm pretty sure he's played every game so far, so that part of the stipulation should not be an issue. |

Well, God forbid he gets scratched/hurt. If it was 1/2 the games required to reach the SCF, he'd do it by playing the next game. But if it's 1/2 of the games including the SCF, he needs to play 5 more games to guarantee he meets it (max. number of games would be 27, he has played in 9, 5 more gives him 14). |

Really like what I've seen from this Zaitsev kid so far.
As for some other low key ads in FA this summer due to our crazy cap complications....
David Booth
Max Lapierre
Lee Stempniak
Matt Irwin
Torrey Mitchell
Shawn Matthias
Michael Ryder
Tomas Kopecky
Marc Arcobello
Viktor Tikhonov (apparently eyeing an NHL return for next year)
Dan Sexton (same)
With the exception of maybe Matthias and Ryder, I don't think anybody here will be crazy expensive. Irwin is the only D man and we don't have a huge need at forward, so just spit balling some ideas here.
I really like the idea of Sexton, Irwin, Arcobello, Mitchell, or Booth. All guys with elements to their games we could use. Ryder is an intriguing add to play in the top 6 for (probably) cheap; ton of skill and a proven scorer.
Looking through potential back-ups for Mason.....yikes - mochoson
I would add fleischmann and roscival to the list

If they win the next game, and play 12 more games(6 each in WCF and SCF), that'd be 22 total games. So he'd need to play a total of 11...which is the next game and just one game in the WCF or SCF |

If Crouse is the guy, I think people will be pleasantly surprised. He skates very well for a big guy. - BiggE
If Lawson Crouse is on the board at 7th, as an organization I think the kid should make Hextall's decision difficult even if Matthew Barzal and Ivan Provorov are still available. According to Ob, he's the one other player outside of Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel who could be NHL ready. Right now we're weak at Left Wing and we have another first round pick. I have NOTHING against drafting one of Matthew Barzal or Ivan Provorov for long term gain but the end goal is to make it to the NHL and if your ready, your ready. If Hextall chose to draft Crouse, I'd make attempts to move up with Tampa's pick and hope like hell Crouse has a strong training camp.
Could you image if Crouse and Morin saw some serious time with the Flyers next season? Even if it's part time, simply because they're ready? Plus, we're still looking forward to another prospect from this first round to develop.

It never hurts for them to stay in junior or go to the AHL and roll around in the pixie dust an extra year. |

I'd bet Hanifin will stay in college at least 1 more year. Don't think he wants anything to do with the QMJHL and if he doesn't make a team that's where he'd likely end up. |

Could be. A lot depends on who drafts him. If the Flyers draft him he'll F'n graduate from college. |

Well is he a Bruins fan
His QMJHL rights are with Québec Remparts so it's not as if he'd be going to a bad team in the league. |

Is the goal to get the guy who is most NHL ready, or to get the best possible player for when the team is a serious contender?
The flip side of the discussion is, there's a number of LW's who should be available with Tampa's pick that are not Crouse, but aren't a great deal off. I'm not anti-Crouse at all, but I'd rather go for the higher ceiling. |

I think the goal is to get a player most suitable to fill the team's needs to move forward in possible contention. |

The Flyers need a number one defenseman. They need another top six playmaker. They need more skill overall in the system.
They can draft a guy like Barzal and have the ability to trade another center for help on the wings. They can draft Provorov and use one of the other young defenseman to fill another hole, since Provorov rates higher than most of them.
If they select Crouse they're still getting a good player, but he might not top out as high as some of the others that could be available. I'd rather get the guy who turns out to be the best player. |
