Honestly if he had a Pacioretty type ceiling, I'd jump at him as well. But that's not a sure thing. He might end up being a bigger, meaner Matt Read. That's not a bad thing, but I'm not crazy about passing up a potential number one defenseman or potential number one center for a bigger, meaner Matt Read. - Jsaquella
It may sound like I'm going belly up here but this is a really good point. Unless of course it makes Matt Read trade bait. Still though, this isn't what you wanna waste a high pick in a deep draft on.

That's my concern. Crouse is a safe pick, he's going to be a solid NHLer. But he might never be much more than that.
If he had the skills of a Tarasenko, boom, done, not a second thought. I just think that other guys have higher ceilings, and that they could reach them and really be cornerstones for the team moving forward

Go hawksss - Giroux_Is_God
Timonen's chances of winning a Cup looks better and better by the game. Not because it makes his chances better but how dangerous the Hawks look when they win. I can't believe they toss away players and still look like the best in the league for 5 years now!!

Because they draft a ton of skilled players and always have a replacement when a depth guy gets too expensive to keep. They're probably going to have to deal Patrick Sharp away, but they'll have Teravainen to plug in.

itll be a little different when they need to add roughly 4 mil a piece for each of toews and kane.
i really think sharp will have to go. Cant move keith. far too valuable. i dont think someone would be too ready to accept hossas term, even if he is still really solid.
could probably cut bait with crawford if they felt like it.
not saying theyll implode. but someone will have to go. and not like a versteeg level player like before. granted, theyre fairly stocked with a few young guys, and theyll probably have 3 cups to their name, so i dont feel bad for them in the slightest.
but they did get lucky with the way their contracts worked out. and then absolutely nailed it on some tough calls/drafting.

What happens next with the Black Hawks will be interesting. Sharp may have to be moved as you just pointed out but Brent Seabrook will need to be extended within the year and he's gonna come into big bucks! I can't believe at age 36 that Hossa is still not only good but he has a lot of years left. I think the Hossa deal makes or breaks them moving forward.
