When do we leave for Florida to make this happen? - ob18
June 17th. You'll need a week to play golf and I'll need a week to eat gulf shrimp. Leave the heads on. |

Just posted in there to point out they could have had G in 2006, and Fowler or Tarasenko in 2010. |

I just feel like there are a number of guys w/ higher ceilings you could take 7-10... and if you prefer safer, there are guys that are safer. |

Just a question.
Just say the top of the draft goes:
Edmonton-McDavid
Buffalo- Eichel
Arizona - Hanifin
Toronto - Strome
Carolina sits at 5. They need assets and dmen. Would you offer something like B.Schenn and 7 to get 5 and take Marner?
Carolina could still get Provorov or Werenski at 7 to fill the blueline they need.

If Provorov is off the board and Crouse is there at 7, I would bet a large sum of money he is a Flyer. |

Hopefully he would see the chance for more playing time and responsibility in Philly than in NY or Chicago. - Feanor

Carolina needs scoring help too. They might just stay put and take Marner. Plus I think it'll take a player of a higher caliber than B Schenn to mob up to 5. |

As much as I love Marner, BSchenn is too much to move up two spots. |

haha.
One person doesn't think B.Schenn is enough.
Another feels too much.

If Crouse is the guy, I think people will be pleasantly surprised. He skates very well for a big guy. - BiggE
If he's a Jason chimera. Are you good with the pick? I just see a low ceiling, and a position I'd stay away from in the top 10 unless the player has franchise like qualities. |

I feel that Crouse is the "safe" pick. He's the closest to NHL ready that you'll get, but his upside is limited. The other guys have much higher (projected) ceilings. |

So many people love him that evaluate talent for a living. I have a hard time brushing him off. I watched him toward the end of the season and he was just doing everything. |

I'm not even a big fan of his, but forwards in their early 20s who have been at 40+ points (pro-rated) for three straight seasons don't just grow on trees. And the Flyers are weak on the wing as it is. Maybe if you expect Marner to play in the NHL right away it makes sense... but there's a lot of risk involved in turning Provorov/Crouse/Barzal/Rantanen and BSchenn into one little guy. |

I read both Hextall articles today. Of course they were filled with mistakes but can someone clear up a point I believed was wrong. Both articles claimed that Chicago's pick next season only turns into a 2nd if they win the cup. I'm fairly certain I remember that it's a 2nd if they get there. They don't have to win it. |

I watched him last year when the team was geared more towards an offensive system and he was awesome.
This year they changed coaches and went to a defensive system and with the injuries he was asked to a lot did it as well as he could.
I'd be happy with him, maybe more than most. |

You're right, they just need to make the Finals, not win the Cup.

Traded Kimmo Timonen to Blackhawks for 2015 second round pick (?-?), 2016 conditional round pick (second round if Blackhawks advance to 2015 Stanley Cup Finals and Timonen plays in at least 50% of the games, third round if Blackhawks advance to third round of 2015 playoffs and Timonen plays in at least 50% of the games, else fourth round) |

This draft could be funny. In the top ten I could see things going a hundred different ways because of team needs. The first to players are locks but after that every team could go different ways.

They lost 4 of their top 6 for a long stretch. Hell Bennett was out for almost the whole season. Riding shot gun with him all season would have turned a lot of heads and his upside that everyone is questioning wouldn't be a question at all.
I don't see how people think they know a kid's upside. Seriously. |
