You're right, they just need to make the Finals, not win the Cup.
http://www.prosportstrans...tTrades/Future/Flyers.htm
Traded Kimmo Timonen to Blackhawks for 2015 second round pick (?-?), 2016 conditional round pick (second round if Blackhawks advance to 2015 Stanley Cup Finals and Timonen plays in at least 50% of the games, third round if Blackhawks advance to third round of 2015 playoffs and Timonen plays in at least 50% of the games, else fourth round) - Feanor
Thanks. That's what I thought. |

They lost 4 of their top 6 for a long stretch. Hell Bennett was out for almost the whole season. Riding shot gun with him all season would have turned a lot of heads and his upside that everyone is questioning wouldn't be a question at all.
I don't see how people think they know a kid's upside. Seriously. - mayorofangrytown
It's tough, but I've talked to a few who scouts OHL prospects who love the player. I think he'd be a welcome addition.
I think I could seriously put him before Rantanen if I had to put up a ranking of my favorites at #7 |

I watched him last year when the team was geared more towards an offensive system and he was awesome.
This year they changed coaches and went to a defensive system and with the injuries he was asked to a lot did it as well as he could.
I'd be happy with him, maybe more than most. - ob18
I'd rather have Crouse than Rantanen. |

As would I. I think his skating is better. Put him with Giroux and Voracek and let him play his simple game and get to the net and he could pop 20-25 goals his rookie season.

No one will agree with me but I'd probably pick him 5th after the two big D.

So many people love him that evaluate talent for a living. I have a hard time brushing him off. I watched him toward the end of the season and he was just doing everything. - mayorofangrytown
I hope your right when the flyers take him |

I have a funny feeling Rantanen is going 6 to Devils. Just seems like a guy they would take to add size and be a replacement for Clowe and Zubrus. |

That might be a bit sooner for me but I'd go #7 for him....
My rankings would be
Barzal
Provorov
Zacha
Werenski
Crouse
Meier
Rantanen |

The kid can really score goals. I don't know if I can pass on that. I think a lot of teams in the 3 to 11 range are going to look back on this draft and wonder how they passed on this kid. Scoring touch is a gift that shouldn't be easily passed on. I mentioned yesterday he reminds me of Corey Perry. |

One man's look at the top 10 upcoming NHL draft picks
Posted 9:11 AM ET | Comments 9
7. Colorado-Ivan Provorov
The Avs need to add talent on the back end badly. They send the 10th and 40th pick and a 3rd round pick in 2016 to Philly for Nick Grossmann and the 7th pick and grab the swift skating Provorov.
- J35Bacher
That's a good deal for us? Grossmann is a salary dump in your opinion? |

Still have concerns with Zacha's inconsistencies, but if he's capable of putting it all together, he's going to be a monster. |

Just a question.
Just say the top of the draft goes:
Edmonton-McDavid
Buffalo- Eichel
Arizona - Hanifin
Toronto - Strome
Carolina sits at 5. They need assets and dmen. Would you offer something like B.Schenn and 7 to get 5 and take Marner?
Carolina could still get Provorov or Werenski at 7 to fill the blueline they need. - J35Bacher
Nope. I'd stay at 7, grab Barzal, keep Schenn
I'm not really sure Carolina needs Dmen, TBH. That have a couple few guys (most notably Hadyn Fleury & Roland McKeown) who are similar to what the Flyers have in the system and, they have Faulk and Murphy on the roster, not to mention a guy like Jordan who had a very solid season and decent depth in Ron Hainsey.
