To paraphrase Paul Holmgren I think you're fading under the pressure - aflyerpower8
Crouse actually is pretty good. He does a lot of things well, has good size and is a good skater. I prefer others, but he's not markedly worse in terms of being a prospect than the others in the group.
Yeah, I can easily move him down and move Crouse/Meier up - ob18
He's like Nichushkin, both in style and potential roll of the dice. He's got the versatility, too. I watched some of him, Crouse and Meier last night, just highlights, and all three can play.

I have no problem with Crouse. I just think Rantanen being rated below Zacha and Meier is a step too far. Personally, I have him ranked ahead of Crouse, but I can see why others would not.

Some people, lot of them have never watched him play, despise Crouse.my biggest concern there is with him is the ceiling. I don't think he's going to be the kind of guy who drives the train for a team, but could be a legit 1st line winger

You can have a Lindros and Renberg but still have room for a John LeClair.

I haven't watched any of the players, or even a lot of the Flyers' prospects, extensively, so I'm just going on reports that I've read from those who have. And what I've read about Crouse sounds a lot about what I read about Alex Tuch. A guy who has numbers but needs others to drive the play for him.
Granted, Michel Goulet was the same way and scored 500 goals, but he probably wouldn't in today's game.
Sure, but do you pass up a guy who could make an existing winger a John LeClair to take a guy who needs a Lindros?
Also, I'd like to trade up with TBs pick which could end up with them adding both of our favorites kids - Jsaquella
I know Hextall wants to be aggressive in this draft. If he could get two picks in the top fifteen somehow that would be tremendous. I'm all for the dynamic playmaker but we have G and Vorachek and I'd love to get a guy who can fill the net

I like him.
I think I have come to the conclusion is I would love to get Barzal at 7. Then maybe try to get Jeremy Roy with the TB pick. In the 2nd round maybe I try to move up and get a big forward like Jordan Greenway if he drops into the 2nd round. That adds skill and size to the roster right away.

That's a a fair assessment in my opinion. Crouse is a good all around guy, but my feeling is he's going to produce based on who he is pired with. Plug him in with Giroux and he's potentially going to score 30-35 goals. Put him with Couturier in a heavy D first role, and it's more like 15-20.
But he's probably NHL ready, and is good enough all around that he can step in as a top 9 right away.

I'd definitely be aggressive with the TB pick. If you can get around 12-15, you're going to get another outstanding kid who might be NHL ready by 2016-17

Would you go D if Hanifin or Provorov dropped to 7?
I have a funny feeling Rantanen is going 6 to Devils. Just seems like a guy they would take to add size and be a replacement for Clowe and Zubrus. - J35Bacher
It's going to be harder for us now that Loony Lou isn't in charge of the Devils any more handing out big deals to 30 year olds with major health concerns.

I'd still go Barzal, but it'd be a hard choice. Hanifin is a guy that has all the tools, but in a couple games I watched he looked...out of sorts, a bit.

The thing about Crouse's production is that he ended up close to a point per game on a team that didn't give him much help. Bennett only played 11 games. Imagine what they could do next season together if they both went back to Junior.
So, we were talking about a sensor-based puck yesterday in light of the Calgary no-goal from the other night. I spent way too much time thinking about it, and concluded that it's a foolish thing to do, as puck orientation throws a few variables into the equation that the NHL could never keep up with.
So, I was thinking about using an EMI field. Now, I'm no electrical engineer, but the idea would be to put a very thin circle of copper wire at some distance from the outer diameter of the puck, that distance being half of the puck thickness (the wire would also be placed at the middle of the puck thickness). You then have some sort of calibrated device that can measure current or some sort of signal that will increase as more of the wire comes into contact with it (this detector would have to have area, not a single line). Once the puck crosses the goal line, it will emit a strong enough field that the pre-calibrated goal detector will be programmed to.
Or you could use a similar idea of a small aluminum wire and use some sort of metal sensor pointing from the ice upward.

Do you mind if i ask how long you spent thinking about that last night? lol
