We need a new GM? How about an owner that doesn't nickel and dime the team to be the lowest spender in the league.
Murrays hands are tied. I think its gonna be tough to resign the majority of RFA's that we have as it is. I Don't expect any signings really but would love to see Petry in a Sens jersey. No more T6F talk. We desperately need help on defence! |

I think we need a more aggressive GM personally.
but I agree we need to work on D. I've said a few times I think we could get great deals on Del Zotto and Adam Mcquaid.
As for Top 6 forward who can score. I would say that will have to come from a trade of multiple players for one. (like Lehner, Cowen, Michalek, legwand ect) |

I find it interesting that everyone is focusing on Stone. Don't get me wrong I was impressed by Stone but I was equally impressed by Hoffman.
I think together they make a great 1-2 punch like Ottawa's version of Toews and Kane. - Maverick1818
The subject of the article was Stone, thus the focus |

Mgt has been consistent in the message - we will spend when the time is right.... it makes no sense to commit to over priced, long term contracts to 30 something FAs, thereby handcuffing mgt when the contracts come due for the 20 something core that we have.
With the RFAS that we need to sign this summer, Ottawa will at least be in the top half of the league in spending next year - for a team that might be ready to get into the play-offs, rather than sneak in.... patience is a virtue |

Personally I couldn't care less if we just sneak in or get in like other teams. The goal isn't making the playoffs the goal is winning the cup |

Pretty rad to see our rookies Stone, Hoffman and Lazar have amazing years. Next year will be nice to see a few more follow in the footsteps of these young bucks. |

I watch Stone, especially how he plays the puck in the offensive zone, and I think he has the potential to put up Corey Perry type numbers over his career.
Getting ready for the Cowen discussion and the line up of commentators wanting to give him up for a 2nd round pick. Most of these guys are the same people who gave on Wiercioche or are frustrated with Gryba because he can't clear his end zone as cleanly as Karlsson.

I don't really remember anyone here, or anywhere really, who gave up on Weircioch, except maybe Paul Maclean. Just about every fan was irritated beyond belief that he was a healthy scratch.
As for Gryba, that guy is a tire fire. His underlying numbers are bad, his traditional stats are bad, he's not good at defending, he's not good at moving the puck. He can hit, but does it so infrequently that it's not really something i'd consider an asset to the team. He is easily the most replaceable player on this roster, in that you could literally replace him with anybody and the team wouldn't miss a beat.
As for Cowen, i don't think anyone wants to give him up for a 2nd rd pick, as most of us realize it's a pipe dream to think we could get that much for him. I do think moving him would be a mistake though, since like i said, the return would be practically nothing, so why bother moving him and risk him turning into an actual good hockey player. |

Sometimes you just want to cry. Gryba was +11 on the season. That is superb in a 5/6 D pair. What else could you want? Ceci, who will be a top Dman one day soon was -4. |

i could want you to use a stat that hasn't been shown, many times, to be pretty much useless and meaningless. He was one of the worst possession players on the team (only boro, phillips, and neil were worse), while playing some of the easiest 5v5 mins. he was DOMINATED almost every night, you could replace him with virtually any d-man in this organization, and there probably would be no noticeable difference (unless you're talking about improvment) in this teams play. |

I think Stone can easily be a 70pt man going forward.
He had a slow start to the year and still got over 60pts. The future is so bright with this kid.
The only thing I would like to see him improve this offseason is his strength. If he can get a bit bulkier (without losing foot speed) can be a power forward (light) as well as a playmaker. He's tall enough and he goes to the hard areas.
Just waiting on a long term contract before I get his name on my jersey. |
