I'm gonna say Anaheim stomps them. - Jeropotato
That would be my guess too. But the off chance the ducks lose in their own barn this will turn into a series again. |

I could cheer for the Ducks except for the fact that Kessler is human effluent. Nice season Flames. Go Hawks. |

Sorry guys, I was pulling for you. In addition I (frank)ing hate the Ducks. I think future is bright for the flames. I think they have an opportunity to represent as Canada's team in the years coming whereas these other teams are all chumps. As a fan of a team that hasn't had a run in 8 years I hope you guys enjoyed it. |

Hell of a year.
Lots to look forward too. Love how Stajan gave Perry some of his own medicine.

I think what won this series for the Ducks was Boudreau getting that top line out against Russell and Wideman, never mind the top Flames offensive line. Russell and Wideman looked small against Getz/Perry/Maroon and got manhandled down low |

Calgary will learn a ton from this series and I think be better for it. Awfully hard to defend the constant forecheck Anaheim throws at teams. Calgary going through the growing pains the Ducks went through a couple of years ago. Your team will be a blast to watch going forward. Tough series all around. Like some of the Calgary faithful said before the series even started, it's all gravy. The team did far better then most had anticipated this year. Nervous time for Anaheim for sure.
Final thought. I predict the "curse" is broken next year. |

Way to mail it in Dambrauskas, I'd like to give you a tearful send off, but I, for one, am glad that we are getting a new blogger, as we deserve one that possesses character to match that of our hockey club. Good luck to your Leafs and your new life direction. |

Great season for you guys. I enjoyed following the Flames from afar this year, prob will again next year. |

Heck of a season. What a great learning experience for our young guys. It's funny as I watched the Ducks I couldn't help but think the thing that turned them around from last year was adding Kessler to give them a one two punch down the middle. I'm pretty excited to see Mony, Bennett and Backlund as our 1,2,3 going forward. Should be a busy draft for us this year too! Can't wait until October....sort of. |

Farewell comeback kids! Thank you for never giving us a dull moment. Thank you for making sure I had to watch the game till the final whistle. Thank you for showing our city that “ A Never Quit attitude” mixed with hard work makes for a dangerous group that people will think twice about underestimating. We are in for a few years of a good hockey if upper management can continue to make calculated decisions. The C of Red burns red again thank you Calgary and its fans for being so classy! |

It's a deep draft and I think we have 8 picks in the first three rounds? That's huge! I'm also curious to see what we do for goalies next season. Ramo is up and Ortio contract becomes one way. Could we find a partner for Hiller? I think I'd rather have Ramo and Ortio than Hiller and Ortio. |

Depending on how Washington finishes out the Play-offs, Calgary could have 4 picks in the first 53 and 6 of 83. If Washington loses to the Rangers in game 7, they will have the 23 spot in the draft based on their regular season points. If they win game 7 and advance the the Conference finals, they will draft in the 27-30 positions. This affects both the 2nd and 3rd round picks the Flames got from Washington for Glencross. The Flames will pick in the 53, 57, 58, 59, or 60 spot in the second round, and 83, 87, 88, 89, or 90 overall in the 3rd round.
Best case scenario 4 of 53 and 6 of 83.
Worst case 4 of 60 and 6 of 90.
Go Rangers Go!
Ortio has a 1-way deal next year, but it's only for $600,000. This wouldn't be a ridiculous contract to pay a guy for one year in the minors IF they feel the best situation for next year is to continue with the Ramo/Hiller tandem. Maybe there is a trading partner for the Flames to move Hiller so the Flames can both re-sign Ramo AND have Ortio play in Calgary. Not sure where they are going with this, but wouldn't Hiller look good in Phoenix to partner with Mike Smith and try to get him back on track in a tandem situation. The Coyotes are stuck with Smith for 4 more years of that $5.6M per season deal. Maybe they're perfectly ok having at least one more terrible season in hopes of winning the 2016 draft lottery for the Glendale AZ native Austin Matthews?
Only time will tell. Can't wait. |

The problem with Ortio's one way contract isn't the salary. It's the fact that he is now waiver eligible and would have to clear before being sent down. He would be claimed for sure if that happened. I would much rather see Ramo retained and Hiller traded, but is there a market for Hiller? We could ride the 3 headed goalie monster for a season or until a home (hopefully) is found for Hiller. Otherwise, we could just put Hiller on waivers. The way I see it, if we don't resign Ramo, we lose him for nothing. If Hiller gets claimed on waivers, we still lose a goalie for nothing but at least, IMO at least, we keep the younger and better goalie. The other option would be to keep Ortio in minors for the season, no NHL training camp, and hope he doesn't have to be called up until Hiller gets moved. |
