Not that I'm doubting 89, but he's the only source we've heard say anything about buffalo & Oreilly for quite a while now.
Not that Murray is allowed to comment on players from other teams, but if trade talks were happening we'd usually hear from Mckenzie or someone.

We all know the Leafs will go after him.
I think Cbus could be a darkhorse in the ROR sweeps

The Sabres already have a few early targets they can begin to look into as a potential fit for their roster.

The main name that comes to mind and has been connected to the Sabres previously is Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan O'Reilly.

O'Reilly, however, can get complicated for Buffalo in a few ways. First off, his natural position is as a center and the Sabres are deep down the middle if, as expected, they draft Eichel. The stickiest part of any deal would be the 24-year-old's contract. O'Reilly has one year remaining on his contract, but will be an unrestricted free agent after next season. The team that acquires the former second-round pick will look to get some kind of assurance from him going forward. That assurance may be hard to come by if O'Reilly intends to test the market in the summer of 2016.

4th period................... if I can find the TSN article i'll post it.

Nobody believes me and that's fine

Columbus is another team that has similar players in Dubinky and Jenner

I wouldn't count out the Isles or the Wings to be honest.

I'm sure quite a few teams will inquire
Love the player, hate the contract situation
Reinhart & Girgensons will provide us the same type of play with Reinhart adding more scoring & Girgensons more grit
I'd let someone else go after him

Feel the same, especially with Girgs. He looks like he could settle into a 55-60 pt a year guy, with the compete level and leadership of a future captain.

The money that O'Reilly is rumored to want could be better spent elsewhere.

But if TM trades for the guy - I'm not going to lie - I will be excited.

The draft should be an interesting time for us
I hope he snags a good player or 2 at a discount from teams up against the Cap

The first 5 words of my post were
"Not that I'm doubting 89"

I was just saying I haven't heard anything lately
Although I'd guess it makes sense tht trade talks wouldn't hear up again until after the playoffs

Girgensons has shown the skill to score, but I'd be surprised if he hits those point totals unless he moves to a top6 wing position.
It's just gonna be tough with 3rd line icetime, as well as (presumably) being in a defensive specialist type role.
I'm thinking 15goals and around 40pts might be a a better guess

If we trade for ROR, are we better off moving Girgensons for help in other areas?

Agreed. I think we need a goal scorer

Kane is a really good player obviously but he hasn't scored goals consistently in the league yet.

I honestly think Girgensons finds his home on the wing in the top 6 in a year or two

We dodged a bullet with him. Next bullet, Ryan O'Reilly

So you think Girgensons is untradeable or do you not want ROR?

People have a lot of hate for ROR, kid is a good player that half the teams in the league would love to have. If we can get him it will be a very good addition and Murray may not be done after that if he pulls it off.

Personally, I think the kid plays the game the right way, and he would be a great addition. I just hope his salary demands don't throw the entire team out of whack.

$7 mil for ROR?

What will Eichel want if he pans out like they say he will? $10 million?

I have no problem getting him as long as it's not a massive overpay and they extend him

this team needs to upgrade the top 6 up front and top 4 d men (4 bodies total)

he fits one of those slots

the money will be there plus we are talking 4 years down the road

and let's be honest, none of the kids right now are looking like players getting 5 mil per year contracts in the years ahead
