Sather will likely deal Yandle for a better package than he dealt him for - rangerdanger94
I really don't think so. Yandle next season is going to be a bargain at a 2.6 cap hit and we need that on the blueline regardless. I think he'll have an excellent productive year |

haha after the playoffs so far, I don't know. Luckily he still has a chance to show what he can do - TPC
I don't think Yandle's been bad. I just don't think he's been great. |

True. Would really depend on how Skjei has progressed and where we stand near the deadline next year. |

Dude anytime the Caps carry the puck into the offensive zone, I freak out. I hate the blueline with a passion. It holds so much power over me. Just get the puck the frank cross it. I swear its like the gate to hell. Nothing can get past it. - TPC

Everyone outside of New York and DC laughed at the Marc Staal and Brooks Orpik contracts they got. But these are the exact players you want on the ice in a playoff game, with the game on the line. |

The Rangers helped relaunch his career. I think he will always have a soft spot for the Rangers. Why he was so pissed they really didn't try to bring him back. |

The only hockey nightmare I have is an elevator getting stuck and I'm in there with Pierre, Millbury and Jack Edwards after eating a couple sacks of white castle. |

Guess he changed his tune a bit. Wasn't he talking poop for awhile after he signed with the Bolts? |

I was real impressed by Yandle during the regular season after the trade. He hasn't been great in the playoffs, but I also think he is battling something that we probably don't know the full extent of.
Personally, I still have no problem with that trade. I am not sold on Duclair becoming a star in the NHL, the 1st round draft pick is likely to be low (although my view may change if it were a higher pick), second round picks are a total crapshoot, and I think Yandle at $2.5 million next year might be the biggest bargain deal (or one of them) in the NHL.

I know the Caps way overpaid Orpik (both in term and $'s), but he and Niskanen (who is probably also overpaid to a degree) have provided them with something they haven't had in years, which is 6 capable dmen (well, maybe 5 - not really sold on Gleason, but he's ok, I suppose - a healthy Orlov would make them better IMO). We had been dressing guys like Jeff Schultz/John Erskine/Milan Jurcina in big playoff games in past years. The ceiling for those guys probably should have been Hershey.

The 1st round pick is lottery protected, so that should help guarantee it being a low 1st rounder. |

Sometimes you gotta overpay at bit. it is paying off now for you guys. He has been rock solid for the most part. |

I think those were both really good signings. All UFA are overpaid. The question is whether you want to complain about what a contract might look like for the team 5 years from now, or take that risk and be better immediately. The Caps are better right now because they signed Orpik, and I definitely think that contract will be fine for the next 2-3 years.

I met George McPhee as a youngster in NYC in a function at City Hall when I was with my junior high school band. McPhee was there representing the Rangers, Bryan Trottier represented the Islanders.
I got to tell McPhee he was my favorite player on the team. He told me "If you ever make the NHL, don't be a fighter" Very seriously too. - jimbro83

Are you guys pulling for Tampa or Montreal (i.e. who do you view as the more favorable opponent for the Rangers) ? |

Yeah, I forgot about that.
But, I'll say this, if Duclair turns out to be a 30 goal scorer, I will admit I was wrong. I just don't see it in that kid, however.
