I 'love' a lot of players. But I wouldn't be harping for a player that we clearly don't need no matter who it was. My hatred for dippy basically stems from his over use along with his extremely risky contract situation and bloated salary (celery), plus the fact that we're selling short a potential top 4 defenseman who is 5 years away from his prime. That's my un-biased analysis.

Not to mention that this team does not have a defensive pipe line to speak of.

While I don't disagree like Kane, ROR has been a target of Murray for a long time.

Like it or not, they are going to make an attempt to get him.

Awesome. The first half could have been better. Flying with a sinus infection isn't exactly my favorite thing to do. Oh, and being on antibiotics for the first half was kind of lame too, but I had a good time either way.

If Murray is that set on it, it has to be after July 1st and there has to be a contract extension already worked out.

I'm fine with the whole "you have to give to get" but I need the piece that I'm getting to not be walking away a year later if the price is going to be as high as we all think it will be.

- HonkFortheGoose

That, and giving up a young defensean both do not sit well with me at all. I see this playing out until at most the 2nd week of July.

Grigo and the Islanders first is where I start, and any additional pieces should be of lower value than those two. That I'd be happy with.

What it really comes down to for me, Stash, is if the risk is worth the reward. At this point in time, I see that answer as absolutely not.

I'm not dismissing that in any way, I can't say for sure how I feel about it either, it's a tough call. I just wanted to point out that your arguments usually come by way of insulting the guy.

I get it though, don't worry.

Thankfully I'm not one of those people that has issues flying in the first place. Though I'm fairly certain the other people sitting around me on the plane were none too happy about my incessant nose blowing.

I also don't need alcohol to have a good time, so that helped too.

I hear whiskey is good for sinus issues, and I'd have dedicated myself to proving that rumor.

Heh I do love insulting the guy. But in a serious way, the reason I do that is more or less for the contractual reasons stated above.

This I can live with. If they want a defenseman, Ruhwedel is all theirs

The reason the defenseman is what's being given up though is because that's what Colorado needs. I don't like it much either, but at the same time, we can probably afford to give one up without it being severely detrimental.

I still don't like the idea of it though. Mostly just because while he's a good player, I feel like we have guys that already do the same thing. If I'm giving up a top 4 D, I'd prefer to get a guy that's a high skill offensive guy.

I like Rudy's game. But I wouldn't be distraught if they traded him. But I definitely like that signing a few years ago. He's been pretty solid.

My reason for not wanting to move Zads is because I see him in the mold of a Pronger. That's not me saying he will be Pronger though. Just he has that type of game to him. I'd rather he be on this team than on the other team in a cup finals.

Out of all the guys we have that we drafted, the one I'd be most ok with moving would be McCabe. I think the other guys we have all do/play the same things that he does. There isn't any certain dynamic to his game that makes him standout from the rest.

That's been the basis of my argument for the past 2 years. I know what COL wants and needs, and I just don't want to give it to them. I'd give up Zadorov + for MacKinnon. That would make it worth it for me, to give up a position that even right now is not very strong at all for an elite talent.

Which is harder to find

A mobile 6'5 defensemen with offensive abilities
Or
Ryan O'Reilly

By your logic and by people calling O'Reilly a Drury-ish clone, I'd say O'Reilly since Buffalo had Myers and Zadorov.

Not to mention Risto still around. Zadorov has more snarl to his game, but Risto is better in his own end.

Finding them is the easy part. Acquiring them is the hard part. Equally imo.

Any talk that involves d-men being traded makes me want to throw Zadorov in because you just KNOW that the other GM is asking for Ristolainen, and when Homie asked the other day who are must keeps on this roster, Risto is a huge must for me.

Never means I necessarily want to get rid of Zadorov, but just have to figure with the fiascos from last season that he will be one of the easiest of the "top" d-men that Murray will trade.

Agreed. Risto's game grew leaps and bounds last year. He was logging some serious minutes at the end of the year and very rarely looked like he was out of his comfort zone. He's definitely on my list of players I would not move. Girgensons is another. Reinhart is the other. Other than those 3, I'm willing to listen to offers.

You need 4 pretty capable defensemen come playoff time.

We have 1 guy right now that I would say is a definite to be one of the four

Bogosian has never played in the playoffs, and is injured every other month
Gorges is average and getting older
Pysyk and McCabe are unproven

Isn't Zadorov too? None of those Sabres you mention have playoff experience, just like Bogosian
