Difference between Bergeron and O'Reilly there is that Bergeron's numbers are posted in a down year for him. For O'Reilly, that's about as good as you are going to get. - buffalofan19

It's all in the stats man. If he can't score in NHL15 then we don't want him!! |

That being said, Bergeron is also six years older, and will be 30 this year. How many more years does he have left at that kind of level? And what kind of shape is Boston in going forward? |

Ryan O'Reilly is a good player.
.......he also is a UFA after next season, and plays a similar style of hockey that a few players we have already do.
I know people are blinded by any big name floated out there because this is Buffalo and we have lacked good players for so long, but seriously, it's not even a fit. Not to mention, no team is trading Patrice Bergeron 2.0 |

We don't have any players that play a 50 point season style. |

So we lunge at the 1st one that might be available?
Maybe if he's signed before we trade for him |

First of all the Sabres aren't going to deal or shouldn't deal for him unless they get a deal for him in place or they trade contingent on signing him, meaning it gets bigger if they sign him.
2nd I know there are people on here, you being a primary one, who looks at stats as the primary value of a player example Tyler Myers.
ROR doesn't have that big of a name but he does here because of all the trade rumors but he is sound offensively, defensively and is a character guy, someone you want to build teams with and have in tight playoff games that we are watching now. Some people don't realize that and you seem to be one of them. It's big numbers, big stats and those are not all the players you build a team with. I'm sorry Johan Larsson is not in his league and we'll see what Reinhart brings to the table. |

Why does everybody think that if we get ROR we won't be able to sign him to a long term deal or he will walk ? |

And I will again ask, what has all of his character, and sound defensive play won Colorado that says he's a must have player?
Also, I actually used the opposite of stats to defend Myers for years, because he had bad ones when this team was bad.

Is ROR a big name player? I don't understand why he gets so much hate in here. He's the type of player Sabres fans usually like. |

If O'Reilly is so godly, it will take much more than AHL players to trade for him |

You always pointed out his good couple of years, his TOI and ignored how attrocious he was in his own end at times, lack of physical play, leadership, passing. When he got to the Jets it was how many points he got that night.
I'm not saying he's a must have player but I'm countering your argument Murray would be a "moron" if he traded for him and that Larrson and Reinhart are the two-way players we already have besides Girgensons, and so we don't need him. |

The trade I've seen most often suggested is Grigs, Zadorov, and the Isles 1st. What do you hate about that deal? |

Our prospects are garbage, but they would be enough to get O'Reilly, the golden god himself. |
