I don't believe you. I for one was totally willing for his trade and could definitely see it happening. The guy has been passed on the depth chart numerous times as has been on that franchise for years.

look at their cap in the years ahead
look at how they are using him now
look at how quick they pulled the plug on connolly

then look at how many trades he has made as gm

I do remember hearing that they weren't happy with his development and, at age 23 and being the 6th overall pick, that's the point where you go from "prospect" to "suspect" (thought I heard that somewhere before).

I could say Eichel is a bust right now but I don't matter (he's not). Find me someone whose opinion people respect that called him a bust...hell find me someone in the media whose opinion people don't respect (Harrington) and find me a time he was called a bust.

He's still a defensive liability. As has been touted before he was drafted. 2 way play in the playoffs takes on a new level of importance.

Connelly wasn't making any big leap in the 5 years they had him. What did they get like two 2nds for him and then he broke his finger? Drouin is going no where. Years until that thought could even be considered

Ok, I can liken this to Cody Hodgson. If the Sabres are in the Lightning's position right now, playing against a very tight Montreal team.. and we have a 30 point Cody Hodgson that can't muster the will to be defensively responsible.. do you bench him or play him.

The difference being that Connolly spent a few years there, this is Drouin's first season with them. Cooper is notorious for making his young players earn their spot.

Compher is technically a center. But they moved him to wing this year in college quite a bit as they feel that it's good for him to get exposure to that position to give him a better change of making it to the NHL due to the amount of Center depth the Sabres have right now. I would think that could have attributed to him not having a great year, as he was learning how to play from a different spot than he used to.

I'd like to see a nice jump in offensive production from Compher & Fasching next year though
If they're who we think (hope) they could be, we should be able to see around 25 goals from each of them

Compher should be named Captain for next year as well.
Unless they give it to Larkin, but I doubt that. He didn't even wear a letter this year
