Here's a quick classification of the Sens Age Groups:
New Old Veterans (29-31): MacArthur, Methot, Michalek
Veterans (26-28): Ryan, Smith, Hammond*
Young Players (23-25): Turris, Hoffman, Wiercioch, Karslsson, Cowen, Boroweici, Chiasson, Lehner, O'Connor
Young-stars (20-22): Zibanejad, Stone, Ceci, Puempel, Pageau, Lazar
Prospects: Linberg, Paul, Englund, Prince, Claesson
Looking at this group, Anderson is 34 (4,17,25 all over that). Wonder if that makes it a smarter idea to trade him instead of Lehner (who might have a lot of strong hockey ahead of him. |

i think moving andy would be a mistake (i also think moving lehner would be a mistake, but i've beaten that to death)........teams need those seasoned vets, the 34+ guys who've been around a long time.......and ottawa can't have phillips and neil as those guys. we need a veteran who is capable of putting the team on his back when the going gets tough for the young guys. in the past, that's always been alfi, and while he plays a different position, i think andy is that guy now.
keep andy and lehner, let some other team overpay for hammond, give MO (i like that nickname) the starters job in bingo.........and there you go. a solid vet, and two young guys oozing with potential |

If we want to a top 4 D or top 6 winger then are going to have to move someone with value. Who do you propose if it isn't Anderson? |

goalies don't have enough value to get a top 4 D or top 6 forward anyways.....unless we're including our 1st and a good prospect or a guy like hammond.
i'd prefer they dump some dead weight (in any way possible), maybe go after a UFA or 2 (mike green, ehrhoff, williams, etc), and give a chance to some of our young guys. |

Are we really considering Michalek to be in the same group as Greening, Legwand and Smith? The same Michalek who, after fully recovering from his knee issues and playing a 2nd/3rd line wing role, put up a point per game pace during the season ending streak and helped round out the roster with veteran leadership that can still play?
A guy who averages 0.6 points per game over his career and who still has the ability to pot 25 goals with a fully healthy season? As a comparable, Bobby Ryan averages 0.74 ppg but is paid almost double what Michalek makes, and is only two years younger.
The same Michalek who rejected higher pay offers to resign here on an 'internal budget' friendly deal (which, for the sens, is saying something) because he believed in the team we had even as players like Alfie and Spezza bolted given their doubts?
The guy who made the Dany Heatley trade a win for Ottawa single handedly?
You guys are either ignorant of the team's recent history, Milan's own injury issues, incredibly deluded, or just straight up a-holes. Or all of the above, haven't decided yet. Give your heads a shake. This guy is an important leader for the club and we will regret getting rid of him as soon as it happens. |

But what if we don't get them? And any player can be valuable as long as the other team wants them enough. Every fan of every team seems to be under valuing there own players whilst over valuing the oppositions. |

i know you think we're going to get this killer return for one of our goalies.......but look at what other, far more established goalies have been traded for.
the only returns that jump out as being "good" are:
1. schneider - guy is one of the absolute best goalies in the world
2. varlamov - many people thought the avs were insane when they made that deal.....and pretty sure it was done assuming the pick would be a lot later than it actually was
3. miller - widely viewed as one of the worst trades in the last decade or so.........no GM, after seeing that debacle, is going to give up the farm for a goalie........unless his name is price, rinne, or lundqvist. |
