Sorry if late - couldn't wade through that entire back read.
Per Dreger, Oil have not yet asked to speak to Babcock, will focus instead on McClellan.

After this post you won't need to read back pages, the mention of Babcock will get you caught up. |

I love red wing fan. Much like the Patriot fan. Both teams just happen to fall into into great players so now they are a beacon of a great organization. meh. Sometimes it pays to be lucky. - RynoBull

I think Buffalo is making a huge mistake. There is no evidence that Mike Babcock has the skill to take a very young team and develop them into a successful NHL contender. He took over a highly talented Red Wing team and has kept them competitive for a long time. But the Sabres development model is the exact opposite to the Red Wing approach. The Sabres are going with kids. The Reds Wings keep their kids in the minors longer than any other team. Babcock succeeds by getting great results from aging veterans. Why would the Sabres want to lock themselves into a long term deal at this point? Luke Richardson is a much better suited to the Buffalo story. |

I think it's foolish to assume that one of the best coaches in hockey can't adapt to a different situation. |

Former NHL defenseman Steve Montador had a degenerative brain disease that has been linked to repeated blows to the head, according to researchers who autopsied his brain.
Montador died in February at age 35 of an undisclosed cause. He had multiple concussions during his career with six NHL teams and had been exhibiting signs of a possible brain disorder, including depression, memory problems and erratic behavior.

Good question. I think that's why Buffalo is interviewing more than one coach. It's already been reported that McClellan's been contacted by Murray. I'm sure Buffalo will take their time and find the right fit, whoever that may be. I've never played for Mike Babcock, nor has the rest of this website, but I constantly hear from players via interview how good of a coach he is and the man plays a very possession heavy system, something Buffalo is desperate to learn how to do. Murray will make sure it's the right fit and so will Babcock. If he's not high on using a young core of players instead of an aging core, then so be it, go to SJ, there's two guys there who have a few years left and two more guys who are solid young vets in Pavs and Loggie Couts. |

He did take an Anaheim team to the finals. A team that had been out of the playoffs the previous 3 seasons and had 3 different coaches in that time. |

In the modern era, only 1 NHL coach won cups with multiple teams
and he didn't win one when he was here

Welp, Buffalo, your opinions on trades and players doesn't exactly agree with me, but as far as impending knowledge regarding this teams acquisitions are concerned... I don't have a reason to doubt you yet. I'll be sure to shoot you some credit if you're right. |

You can take that to lloyds TACO truck bank. Pegula wanted rex and he wants Babcock, hearing around 6 million a year. |

Well, money only doesn't always buy free agents, and we all knew it would be high but holy (frank) that's more than 2x as much as Q...but I'm surprised this is getting done so early. The Lloyd's taco truck bank is serious business. Don't (frank) me, Eric. Don't (frank) me. |
