Hey now we're talking!
Jordan and Semin (50% retained) for Sutter, Dumoulin/Harrington, Spaling, 4th
or Sutter, Dumo/Harry, Bennett
- YouMeAndDupuis9
How about Staal, Skinner, 3 1sts, and Lindholm for Sutter, Adams, Scuderi, Spaling, Dumolin, Lovejoy, and the rights to Martin? |
|
|
|
What about Jordan and Skinner for Sutter and Letang and Bennet and Dumo?
...or am I just on the crazy train now headed straight to hell? - brienstel
No Bennett and Dumo.. that's crazy overpayment |

I like stats, but the same time the end result is important too.
Here are a few other important stats...
1. 80 games, only missing games due to mumps...which he ended up not having.
2. Comparable non-powerplay goals (18) to Crosby, Malkin, and Hornqvist.
3. +/- was only topped by Hornqvist and Winnik.
4. Only 14 penalty minutes all season.
5. More SH goals than the rest of the team combined.
6. Only topped by Kunitz and Comeau for GWG.
Additionally, he's been the most consistent playoff performer on the team the past two seasons. Yes, he wasn't great all season but at the same time he showed up strongest in the last two weeks when they were scraping to make the playoffs and he centered the second best line on the team in the playoffs this year. Most people would consider that clutch. Furthermore, he does this with constantly changing wingers. If people are upset that the top six wingers are weak, how bad do you think the third line wings are? Part of setting up your line for goals is having two other forwards who can contribute as well.
Now, it's possible there could be a better value available for a third line center and that should be explored. That said a new player is a gamble, and I don't want to trade a known quantity who shows up when the Pens need it the most. I think he's a reasonable value at 3.3 million.
I feel the cap space we should look at is on the defensive side. Letting Martin and Erhoff go in free agency frees up quite a bit of money. If Scuderi could be moved that frees up even more. |

I'm not a huge Sutter fan, but not a hater either. I can't wait for the Pens to move him, then pay $3+ mil for another 3C that only scores 15 goals next year and see this board lose their mind. Remember it was terrible allocation of $700k for Adams and Goc/Lap that caused all the Pens issues this year. |

Sutter, Dumoulin, Scuderi, and next years 1st for the Staal brothers, with Carolina retaining 1/2 of Eric's contract. |

Sutter finished with 33 points. If he were actually a shutdown 3C that's decent but he isn't. |

It doesn't matter. Everyone here wants goals from everyone. Goc and Lap couldn't score goals so their garbage. Lap played very well in the playoffs, probably the 4th best player the Pens had. Most here say he sucks and should find someone else. |

Positive goal differentials is what everyone wants. Lap dog sucked in the playoffs too. 0 pts and a -2 in 5 one goal games. |

I don't think Sutter signs an extension here. Bottom line for me is you can't let him leave for nothing. If he's the best trade chip to get a wing, you do it. |

I by no means care either way on sutter I think 21 goals is great production from a 3c but I also understand the possession stats and lack of physicality. 3.3 isn't an overpayment imo but if we can trade him go for it. I can't single him out when everyone 87/71 have not got it done in quite some time. I honestly don't care who they trade 87/71 included I just want to win |

Unless you have a stud prospect, you will pay 3+ for a 3C. The question is what is SUtters trade value and how much demand is there for a 3C league wide? If Sutter+BB/Dumo/Harrington dont land a top 6...he stays on the team. |

4C's aren't very noticeable. Lap elevated his game in the playoffs. He's cheap and they need a 4C, Id keep him.
Malkin played great when it didn't matter. He has 0 pts in like 40 some PP's, he's injured the entire month of March and April, but heals up just in time for the IIHF. |

The last thing this team needs is a loser like lap dog. He's trash and he doesn't belong on an NHL roster just like Adams.
Malkin was not good at the start of the tournament either. |
