it was basically Amazon before the internet.

you had this massive catalogue with all their poop and then you'd go to the store and they had these slips you'd write the product number on, hand it to some dude and they'd go in the warehouse in back and get it for you.


mind you they'd only have what you wanted in stock about 0% of the times but that catalogue was a mainstay in everyone's bathroom for years.
