I may be the most vocal non-supporter of the guy on here, but if even Johan Larsson can come here and look more competent, even under the circumstances last year, you have a problem.
The safe money is on Hodgson being bought out this year, especially if the 1/3 cap figure provision is true. - buffalofan19
Hockey is situational
Hodgson was a top 10 pick for a reason, and has produced at the NHL level.
In the right situation, he can be productive |

1 20 goal season his career and its a fact he is gonna do it again? Like I said earlier Jonathan Cheechoo scored 50 before - Stripes77
By that logic, Näslund was garbage after his 3rd year in the league, right? |

Just about everybody on this team got first line and PP opportunity. Some did better with it than others, and Hodgson definitely fell in with the "others". - buffalofan19
Larrson didn't do jack sh!t offensively until he started with Ennis and top PP time.
Grigs would also has something to say about that. |

Does Tyler Ennis ring a bell? Anyone? How about PP time??? - Herzeleid
Cause that 1 power play goal Larsson scored makes all the difference |

I don't disagree with any of that. I still think he gets bought out though. Buying out a guy coming off of a six goal season at 1/3 the cost is a tough deal to pass up.
Hodgson may be capable of scoring 20 in this league. He probably will (and should) be doing it for someone else though. |

This is going to be Hodgsons 5th year...forwards are supposed to get it a lot sooner |

I wouldn't consider him playing 5 full years considering the 8 games one year, the split season with Buffalo and Rochester, the lock out half season and this year media distraction and Nolan's "coaching prowess". To me, he only played two and a half seasons over 5 years. But to each, their own. |

Lets be 100% fair here
Hodgson produced when he played with Vanek and Pommer
O'Reilly produces with Duchene, Landeskog, Mackinnon and Tanguay.
Put O'Reilly here last season and he struggles like everyone else. Put Hodgson in Colorado and he probably nets 20 goals.
I do know O'Reilly is better, but it isn't as wide of a gap. This historically bad team has a lot to do with it - sbroads24
Everything Hodgson can do ROR can do better.
And yes it is by a wide gap. |

Which is why I said he's definitely better. But I think Hodgson has more offensive talent to be honest.
I'd actually be interested to see what Babcock could do with Hodgson - sbroads24
Get him the fvck out of here would be my guess. |

I'm debating. I can see a buyout, but I can also see a redemption season where he pots 15-20 and becomes tradeable. |

What game are you watching????
What has he got? Not knowing how to be any help in his own zone?
If he scored 30 a year I wouldn't care about his defensive zone play (see Vanek, Thomas even though I hated his contract) but he doesn't.
Let him go play for a team that isn't ready to make the turn around and play in their top 6.
No playoff team wants Cody Hodgson on their team |

Already proven he can by having better numbers.
Put ROR in between Van and Pommer.
It'd be night and day.
Put Coho on Colorado and his line mates would have to drop it down two gears so he could keep up.
Coho is useless and its a shame because I really thought he'd be a close Roy comparison.
He isn't. |

Not 100% sure about that one. But I'll always remember that slapper Hodgson put up against Boston in the SCF

16.11 to 16.51
That's a wash.
ROR gives you 76.45 gp per year
The scrub gives you 78.21 gp per year. |

Ryan O'Reilly plays with guys comparable to Vanek and Pommer.
The Av's have three forwards that were top 3 picks, and another two in Iginla and Tanguay who have played at high levels.
People are severely over rating O'Reilly. |

He was poor offensively this past season. He has offensive skill though. I remember when the tank was getting tight with the Yotes he looked way more dangerous than I wanted him too. He still stinks defensively though. |

I'm not a Hodgson fan by any means, but there are plenty of one dimensional players that survive in the NHL.
