There is Vrbata as well (top 6), but, his value is as high as it's ever gonna get, I'd look at moving him if the return was there.
- LeftCoaster

True I kind of forgot about Vrbata as he disappeared in the playoffs but his regular season numbers are top 6 worthy for the most part.

I can see Vrbata moved at TDL.

Why would the NHL make the games the same time as the international games! Stupid. Gold medal game at 130 and NHL game at 200 central time.

Phaneuf and Hamhuis are two name that will likely get tossed around for those picks
No. 16 Oilers
No. 19 Red Wings

On my way to whistler to play some golf and I've been pondering about the prospects...I know we need to temper expectations as a lot of these kids won't work out but I believe we have come a long way in two years. Gaunce, pedan, virt, cassels, subban, Shink, grenier, corrado, clendenning, McCann and tryamkin will likely be NHL players. Plugs or stars who knows but it's exciting to have some prospect depth !

Next year no quick fixes , the following year many possibilities with UFAs and expiring contracts

It sounds like you're really taking it all in (is this your first time overseas?) and have had a full itinerary. It's great you're able to get in some sight-seeing, as Prague is such a beautiful city and has so many artistic and architectural elements, and such a rich historical background. Hopefully you'll be able to snag yourself one of them thaire fancy hats and maybe get it autographed by Team Canada!

I have been abroad before, but this is the farthest east that I have ever been in Europe. Vienna was the farthest before.

The country is fascinating as it's still very new in its adjustment away from Communism, but also maintains strong roots with Russia and the past.

The Czech hats were all sold out but I got a Russia one at the merch tent today - and a Canada scarf.

More importantly—Nick Bonino had a goal and an assist and was named Player of the Game for the U.S. as they beat the Czechs 3-0 to claim the bronze medal.

He wa a force out there—had a great game and didn't look like his skating was an issue on the big ice.

I'll have some quotes from him in my next blog. Waiting on the bronze medal-game coaches right now, then will finish up my prep before our gold-medal game at 8:45 local time.

It would be interesting to surround Bonino with decent players . I still think he is a third liner and yes Vrbata is decent

Another indicator the Canucks have went off the grid. Elliotte Friedman usually mentions pretty well every team in his 30 thoughts column. Not a word on his latest, no talk or communication makes it tough to connect with your fan base and more importantly corporate sponsors and season ticket holders.

Hopefully a D. Team is really lacking in top 4 quality D where as its easier to find forwards.

Sadly it's the same thing with Kesler. Will never know what the 2nd line Center can do without any decent wingers.

Bonino showed us what he can do early in the season. He needs to be more consistent. I think the team has some chemistry issues.

Yes, JB better take a big D before a forward, the team is not in a position to take BPA.

Can't forget the big bombshell last week with the talk of Lack's extension and JB saying the management group or hockey operations is getting together to figure out the direction of goaltending and Lack's future with the club.

Hopefully, when that group is together, they will be discussing Cassels, McCann, and the prospects in Utica, in regards to the makeup of next years team- can any of these guys be penciled in? Will the keep roster spots open in the hopes of a prospect being ready for full time nhl duties?

This is where it gets dicey. I just think of Edmonton reserving 2c for Draistl but he wasn't really ready. The situations are a little different with Vancouver having more established vets in the lineup to insulate rookies to a certain extent- and 2c is a big role... Big decisions to be made- even if they aren't talking about them to the press/media.

One major issue is , just about all offensive advantages of the Canucks are given to two players. It is hard to build momentum when you are given the scraps.

I admit the Sedins are very decent offensive players but I still look forward to the day when everything Canucks does not go through them

Will Vrbata net a first round pick? Is he on the market? The silence can’t be a good thing. Especially if he was promised he would be playing with the twins and WD or ? thought otherwise.
