Gaunce, Jensen have been scratches for Kent Huskins (36) or Travis Ehrhardt (26)? - VanHockeyGuy
Erhardt is basically Green's version of Sbisa from what I've read. Huskins is at least a solid AHL d-man. |

I guess, but it seems like plenty of other AHL teams do it all the time. Hell, Calgary played Sam "18 Year Old "Bennett straight in the NHL playoffs after he barely played all season and that experience was probably great for his development and I doubt he's going to take the summer off now knowing he's a 99% lock to take the team next year. - Nucker101
You know, it bugs me when people take one example and try to pass it off as the norm? Sam Bennett is a special player and Calgary committed to playing younger guys.
I played in the WHL for a long time, I played with many guys who played in the American League for a few years before they earned a shot at the show. If Green'er actually felt like Jake and Jared were heads and shoulders better than the guys they have, they'd play...obviously he doesn't. Or he doesn't know them and their game well enough to trust them...yet!
What the Canucks are doing with these kids is absolutely the "norm" from my experiences with hockey. |

You would think that WD would give the kids a chance since he came up coaching youth in the WHL and then in the AHL. |

Because they're trying to win, you get that right? If it wasn't a business and only for development purposes they'd fold up the AHL and there'd be no playoffs. All those players are developing from their experiences down there, whether it be from competition or from being pushed by sitting and learning to bring their "A" game every night....it's a process. |

We could just pass up on him? lol
The size thing is just way too much of a hype on him. |

Nurse is also playing with OKC. I'd hope Virtanen would at least be comparable to Bennett/Nurse, but I do understand what this organization is trying to accomplish. It is kind of hard to earn a spot just in practice though unless the team pays a full scrimmage or something which I''m guessing is extremely rare during the AHL playoffs. |

But it gets a bit annoying when guys like Travis Ehrhardt who are struggling are still playing over a Ben Hutton. And at least unlike Virtanen and McCann, he's played a few games during the regular season already. |

I'm just being a troll, but Benning's been spotted at his games a couple of times and has a fetish for big defensemen so I wouldn't be surprised at all. |

They want to develop them in Utica. So why are Virtanen, McCann and Hutton bench warmers? They prefer to play career AHL 30 year olds? Based on that alone do you think they would get a legitimate shot with WD? Not a chance. - VanHockeyGuy
I see that side of the argument but it is not fair to everyone who has put in all year. The thought behind any team is to win. I am sure if JV JM or Hutton been better than what they had they would be in. |

Sounds like an awesome visit to a beautiful city Carol, I hope we (my wife & I) get the chance one day to visit.
Excellent for young players suck as Hall, Eberle and Eakins to experience what it's like to be a winner at the professional level. I think I heard Mike Smith say in an interview it's nice to play in front of a good team that can actually score goals - LeftCoaster

Yeah but any D over 6'2" is going to be good for nhl size and considering we drafted every D from 6' to 6'5" in the past couple of years we can go with a skilled point producing defence man. |

Nurse has also been a healthy scratch from what I've read? Jake will get his chance...patience...they're winning with how they're rolling things out right now. Which is the name of the game. Professional sports is absolutely a cut-throat business. |

they want to develop them in a winning environment. Let's hope for some injuries. |

Do you think any prospects aside from Sven will get a legitimate shot at making the team next year? You know WD didn't want Bo on the roster correct? So keeping that in mind... |

- funny story. I was in Amsterdam, a while back, walking down the streets and I pass this club called the Rouge, it says live show. So me being somewhat naive I pay the ten bucks cover to go in thinking its a strip club, plus you get two drinks with your cover, so I sit down back row near the bar. Out comes a guy and a girl and they proceed to start having sex on a table that is slowly spinning around on stage....I was like WTF man???
Place was full of Asian men just enamored with the whole thing, finished my two drinks and left |

Clendening, Corrado and Pedan are all waiver eligible. I'm not sure if there's a specific date where players can be sent down before the season to avoid waivers or not. I know it's been discussed here in the past. |

Don't forget, Green wants to win the cup this year. The Canucks aren't telling him not to. My bet would be that if he does it this year, he will play whoever they tell him to next year to appease them and keep them from bringing their players somewhere else when it all expires. I think it would b wise for the Nucks to make our AHL team in Langley, would get lots of people going to the games to see our future stars. Aqulini could easily buy the AHL team which would allow the team to develop as they want to(or fund someone to be the owner in name only) |
