If JV was head and shoulders above the talent on the Comets he would be in. It is obvious he is not. - VANTEL

Don't forget, Green wants to win the cup this year. The Canucks aren't telling him not to. My bet would be that if he does it this year, he will play whoever they tell him to next year to appease them and keep them from bringing their players somewhere else when it all expires. I think it would b wise for the Nucks to make our AHL team in Langley, would get lots of people going to the games to see our future stars. Aqulini could easily buy the AHL team which would allow the team to develop as they want to(or fund someone to be the owner in name only) - Retinalz
Utica has one of the best fanbases in the AHL. People in greater Vancouver stop giving a poop when the Canucks suck, once the shiny new toy syndrome wears off of an AHL team, I'm sure people will be lining up to go. |

You said it yourself how many times this year, don't expect McCann or JV to make the team next year.
Cassels may because 4LC is wide open and he is older. But even that is a stretch. |

Patrick White put up 24 points in 32 games in the slovakian league.
Anton Rodin put up 40 in 54 in the swedish league. :rug:
Adam Polasek (my old fav dark horse) 36 in 52 in czech league. - manvanfan
Gustav Forsling only put up 6 in 38 in his first season in the swedish hockey league. I'm good with his trade now. |

They want to develop them in Utica. So why are Virtanen, McCann and Hutton bench warmers? They prefer to play career AHL 30 year olds? Based on that alone do you think they would get a legitimate shot with WD? Not a chance. - VanHockeyGuy
Bottom line its the playoffs and he has players who have earned the right to play in the playoffs. What message are you sending to the team bringing these kids onto the ice over the players that got you there? Green trusts his players to get the job done and they intern believe in themselves. It is a winning combo. |

Do you think any prospects aside from Sven will get a legitimate shot at making the team next year? You know WD didn't want Bo on the roster correct? So keeping that in mind... - VanHockeyGuy
I do, but I'm thinking maybe three kids? Clendening, who's 22 turning 23 in October, Sven who's also 22 turning 23 in October and one other kid. Out of Gaunce, Shinkaruk, Corrado or Jensen maybe?
I don't really care if they're 19 or 23, if they're good enough to play and they've got the game, they'll make the team. Most kids, like Shinkaruk, find the step up to the American League a big one, in that you have to play a responsible 200 foot game or you simply don't play. Everything in Major Junior is off the rush, it's a huge adjustment. |

Green is also auditioning for a NHL job. He will play the players that give him the best chance to win. |

Considering Jensen and Gaunce have been scratches in the playoffs, he's not afraid if your under performing to sit the future of the canucks. |

It's much easier for a player with top 6 NHL talent/potential to crack an AHL team, even at a young age than an NHL team. Again, this isn't a big deal to me and I understand the logic behind what Green is doing but it would be nice to at least give them 1 or games or so just to get a taste, even in a limited role. It's not biggie and I doubt it's going to impact their development, but I'm just speaking as a fan.
I agree that all 3 of the guys you've mentioned are long shots to make the team. The youth movement will be Sven, Markstrom(if a goalie is traded), Clendening, Kenins and probably Corrado. |

Yeah, I didn't mind that trade but keep in mind that he's a skinny 18 year old playing in a men's league. Hard to evaluate that trade so soon. |

I think they will all get a fair shot and some will excel above the vets then some of our vets will be given a choice... accept a trade or you're on the bench. This team has to be shaken up now. It has to be a combo of youth inserted in the line up, trades and free agency. If it wasn't clear to everyone in the organization from the top down it sure is now. |

Here's my beef. WD enjoyed a good regular season, lots of points. He likes to go with the vets which I understand. I like the faith Bob Hartley had in the kids this year and how he supported them. I just don't see that with WD. |

Shink has not been that great and they had him 4 th line. He has come on in the last two months, but still not consistent.
Players I think that get promoted. Sven and Clendenning ( COrrado maybe if Canucks trade two Dmen) Pedan as the 8 th .
Players that could surprise at camp and maybe one may make it. Grenier Gaunce Cassels |

This year van went in with an extra forward or two because of injuries the season before. This year I don't see that happening shink and gaunce, sven are capable call ups. Be nice to see them get NHL games in even if it's like 10 games. |

Jensen is falling from the depth charts. He needs to have a solid year before he gets considered . I expect him to go play in Europe soon. |
