It is almost a marketing thing with the playoffs, committed to try and make a run, but thank god we didn't give up anything to bring in rentals... err, may as well look at the pending ufa's as rentals for the playoffs as they are just as likely to walk as resign...

I just don't see Edmonton trading McDavid for ANYONE unless it was a completely super blockbuster type of deal which involved many roster players, prospects, and draft picks. You just do not trade away the next Crosby unless a deal is proposed which is absolutely ridiculous in favour of Edmonton. We are not only looking at this as a hockey deal but one that would impact an organization on many levels - i.e. merchandising, ticket sales, advertising, interest, attendance etc, all substantially for years to come.

Then again, I just realized it's manic Tuesday lol so how about this just for sh*ts and giggles:

Ekblad, Bjugstad, Barkov, and a first in the 2016 draft. Despite this package it wouldn't be surprising if Edmonton asked for even more (Kulikov?). Again, the chance of putting together such or similar trade is slim to none and slim just left the building.
