I just don't see Edmonton trading McDavid for ANYONE unless it was a completely super blockbuster type of deal which involved many roster players, prospects, and draft picks. You just do not trade away the next Crosby unless a deal is proposed which is absolutely ridiculous in favour of Edmonton. We are not only looking at this as a hockey deal but one that would impact an organization on many levels - i.e. merchandising, ticket sales, advertising, interest, attendance etc, all substantially for years to come.
Then again, I just realized it's manic Tuesday lol so how about this just for sh*ts and giggles:
Ekblad, Bjugstad, Barkov, and a first in the 2016 draft. Despite this package it wouldn't be surprising if Edmonton asked for even more (Kulikov?). Again, the chance of putting together such or similar trade is slim to none and slim just left the building. - Zogg
Edmonton makes that trade.
Barlow Bjustad Hopkins down the middle and Ekblad which is what they rally need makes it a slam dunk. They make the playoffs with that team and if they get a goalie maybe even the second round. Ekblad will win the Norris in the next 5 years

I'm not sure I agree. Like I said, I think it's more than just about the hockey end of things. Think how much Edmonton is going to make in merchandise sales (McDavid jerseys, ticket sales, advertising, attendance, merchandise sales in general). Although they are looking to be successful on the ice, the organization is also looking at the bottom line.
Secondly, as I alluded to, even if Edmonton is willing, do you think that Florida would actually pull off the trade by giving up so many excellent young assetts? What I indicated earlier is, what I thought it might take to get McDavid ; however, I didn't say that Florida would actually consider that trade. Let's face it, McDavid, although hailed as the next Crosby, is nonetheless an unproven commodity. Whereas you are already assured quality players from Florida, who have already had a taste of the NHL. Ekblad (who I agree is a stud) + would probably get it done if there wasn't as much hype for McDavid. But the media, fans etc, have already labelled him as the next great one so it would be virtually impossible to get any sort of equitable trade on either side of the coin.
If I'm Florida there is no way I'm giving up Ekblad or Bjugstad or Barkov, especially if it's just for McDavid coming the other way. Again, I just don't see any realistic scenario where McDavid gets moved and a team is wiling basically give up half of their team to get him. |

Edmonton Mgmt even today said McDavid was definitely going to be drafted by Oilers.

Anyone watching the Ducks / Hawks game?
This is why the NHL sucks-- Stoner takes a penalty tripping Kruger from behind into the boards. Then once the play is blown Stoner crosschecks Shaw across the face.
Should be two penalties, but the refs are more concerned with " game mgt " and call only one.
Just more stupidity / ineptness on the NHLs' part.

Was his first game. Different from being physically dominate to every other guy just as strong as you are. The highlights I thought showed some good potential. - manvanfan
He can be have an effect on a game like Ferland, only with talent. |

I wish Gaglardi screwed over Aquilini and purchased the team behind Franchesco's back.

Agreed, that should have been a 4 minute penalty - one for crosscheck and one for roughing. Once again, we put up with the whole 'game management' bullsh*t instead of just having things called properly on a consistent basis |

Tanking is only somewhat remotely okay if you have no veterans that have been with the team for years. If van did that wit the sedins it would be embarrassing. - manvanfan

Virtanen barely played and it was also his first pro game so it was hard to really evaluate him. He's definitely not afraid to throw a big hit. His biggest flaw is probably how much he struggles with the cycle game, but for a guy with his speed, size and strength, it can be improved. In the WHL he got away with it, but in the pros he'll need to learn how to cycle the puck or he's going to struggle since scoring off of the rush only will limit his upside. - Nucker101
