I'm not liking the Hawks chances in this series - PhillySportsGuy
It's definitely gonna be a lot shorter than Chicago thought if they can't figure out a way to match the Ducks physicality
When I watch a team like this play, I do wonder about the theory of just bringing in the greyhounds on defense -- the Blackhawks are getting straight-up manhandled down low

I don't know where you get this and why you believe any of it. - SuperSchennBros
Unless some team is willing to bank on luke schenn breaking out in year 8 to become more than the #6 guy he is. I have no clue why a team would trade an asset for a guy who is getting paid more than twice what he's worth in a cap strapped league.
Did you believe hartnell had negative trade value when he was dealt because that's exactly what happened. |

The conversation was about how Hakstol has only ever dealt with young players. As I mentioned earlier, wear and tear will be on most of the men he Coaches from here on out. - SuperSchennBros
Sorry, didn't backread...but what do you mean by wear and tear? Just the physical abuse of the game over time? |

The Hawks just don't have the defensive depth to play with them. They have three good defenseman and thats it.
Flyers had the same thing in 2010 with 4 good defenseman. It can only get you so far because the guys get overworked. |

I could barely put together words when I read this.
Luke Schenn does have value, it just depends on what element a team is missing or looking for. Just before trading many assets to acquiring Chris Pronger, the Flyers tried to fill the physical hole they were missing on the back end when they only had a top 4 of Kimmo Timonen, Matt Carle, Randy Jones and Brayden Coburn. So they traded for Andrew Alberts to add that physical element we needed.
Scott Hartnell was still a productive player when he was traded. We knew we were getting a lesser player in return, we just didn't expect Umberger to be a miserable failure. In fact I don't think anyone could have known Umberger would be this bad. |

From Garth's corner
No other team can come close to matching Buffalo's offer to Babcock.
1. Great salary. Check.
2. Great relationship with GM. Check.
3. Great organizational pipeline full of prospects. Check.
4. Solid ownership. Check.
Flyers do not Check. on 2.? |

But can Babcock deal with a few more losing seasons just to accept a bigger payday or stay with Detroit who has stars now & also has good prospects in the pipeline coming,

Babcock is no miracle worker but we have seen Coaches come in and make an instant impact on a team. Laviolette and Hitchcock being the most recent NHL Coaches to do so. Babcock in my opinion is an impact Coach. While I'm sure Hextall did his "Du diligence" on Hakstol, he absolutely did not with Babcock and I don't have a problem with those who are upset about this. We can't be upset with what we landed because we don't know what we've got yet but I think you have to at least interview a Mike Babcock if he's available. |

I don't see why, right after the season ended, he would go to Europe to check on Red Wings prospects if he had any intention on leaving. I would expect one to disengage, at least to an extent, not go abroad with your GM. |

Nobody knows if he didn't at least speak to him by phone & based off of that felt it wasn't worth going any further.
To say otherwise is somewhat foolish since he won't address it & none of us are in his head or talked to him about what his game plan was on the coaching search.
Babcock is a solid coach but he's isn't a god among coaches. Let's face it he was given a really good team when he got to Detroit and their management have done a pretty good job at giving him one every year. |

I'm not so sure Detroit Red Wings are that much better than the Philadelphia Flyers moving forward. We were fighting for a playoff spot, we had cases of injures with Wayne Simmonds, Andrew MacDonald and Steve Mason down the stretch. Things didn't workout. If the reports are true that Babcock is headed to Buffalo, well, we already know they're not as good as us. Unless teams were lined up and banging down Dave Hakstol's door, I think you at least try to interview a Mike Babcock. I don't think anyone wants to be interviewing for another Coach in two years if this plan fails. |

Not to mention if he had any hard feelings about the Wings GM that he'd sit and do a 1 hour interview with him just to please TSN. |

Even if Hextall hired him and in 2 or 3 years it didn't work it's possible both would be out of a job.
And the Wings have a very good prospect pipeline, much better than the Flyers & at the very least on par with Buffalo if not even better.
If he leaves if just because he wants a fresh start, at least in my eyes. |

I have no idea, I have no inside information.
He's our coach you will have to at some point come to grips with it and go back to cheering them on once the next season begins. |

As of right now coaching the Coyotes. Only what Buffalo, NJ, & San Jose jobs open right now. If he's not crazy about any of them he doesn't have to make any move right now. |
