I'm failing to see the parallel between a college hockey coach quitting his job and someone dying - funmaster18
It was a poor example. I did not mean to compare the two, I used an extreme to try and make my point.
My main issue is a simple one. A student athlete at any University is owed more then reading a blurb on Twitter or Facebook when it comes to the person who is part of the reason why they chose the school they would be attending. |

is it true that Hakstol notified his players he was leaving by sending them a text that simply said "im outie" ?
if so that is despicable |

But at the same time if you truly admire your coach you'd want the best for him, no?
I can see the angle where you're coming from. But these kids are playing for a reason and that reason is to get into the NHL. Not only do they have to compete but they have to understand the business side of it.
They'll get over it. They'll adapt to their new coach's system and ideas and maybe one day they'll get to play for Hakstol again if they are fortunate enough. |

I don't know if it's true or not, I didn't even hear anything along those lines, but I have a really hard time believing that a 46 year old, college hockey coach sent a text of all things, using the verbiage "I'm outie".
I also don't know if this was a joke or not... lol |

Sure, that would be nice, but they also (should) understand that things like this happen and it's part of the risk they take when they commit to a program. If you want to increase the likelihood that the coach is there all four years, sign on to a crappy program. |

Berube must be a candidate for one of the open jobs.
The same people who were "on board" when Berube was hired, are the same people who were shredding the guy on a daily basis.
I'm praying Babcock signs with the Sabres, and also rooting for the University of North Dakota to win the Frozen Four next year. It will be delicious!

On one hand,, I think we can all see that L Schenn's if gonna fall far short of expectations.
On the other, I look at a guy like Stralman, who was an '05 draftee, languished for years as a spare part/3rd-pair guy, couldn't even crack the Devils' blueline on a PTO a few summers ago... today he's got a solid grasp on a top-4 spot on a deep blueline for one of the best teams in the league.
Yeah, I don't think Chief was as good for Schenn as Lavi was. Ditto Ron Wilson (who also didn't get much out of Stralman). Hopefully Hakstol can harness what the kid can do well and give him a role he can really run with, because Luke should be better than this, even if he's never going to be great. - Tomahawk
That's the one thing we can all agree on: He should be better than what he has shown
I won't throw myself off a cliff if he's a set-and-forget defenseman. He can't help who he was traded for, or where he was drafted, and we all can acknowledge that
Maybe because Hakstol was a defensive defenseman, he can salvage something from him where he becomes a quiet, steady defender who can be trusted for 17-ish minutes a night
Yeah, I know. But I truly love the guy's size and willingness to compete, even as I hate his foot speed and instincts

So, who doesn't have a coach right now?
Devils, Sabres, Leafs, Sharks? That it? |
