would jared cowen for Rychel be a possible deal?
cowen coming off a rough year, but still has a high ceiling (prob needs a fresh start) and fits what the jackets are looking for. |

Bergevin clearly stated he wants Petry signed so i wouldn't be that surprised to see Markov available. I don't see a Markov for Rychel swap though. |

Being a guy from the Windsor area, and had a buddy close in the Spits, I had said that Rychel prob shouldn't be a first rdr because he was given very favorable treatment/ice time/pp time by his dad in Windsor. I had mentioned this in some draft blog and a lot of ppl didn't like what I was saying.
But now we see that cbj is trying to move him and he didn't tear up the AHL upon arrival. I'm not saying he's a bad player but maybe he got his tires pumped a bit more because his dad owned his junior team.
That said if the Canadiens traded Tinordi for him that's a risk for MTL as tinner is huge and a good skater on D that has seemed to struggle to find consistency. But, most of the time a large D man takes a while to find his way. Rychel could be a second liner at best but maybe hasn't earned his way as much as others and maybe will only project into a 3rd line checker. To me that's high risk/reward for both teams but 4 years from now Tinordi could be the more valuable player.
I can't see MTL giving up Beaulieu for a AHL rookie considering the strides Nate took this year. Seems the cbj won't want emelin. Personally I would get rid of markov but I would expect cbj to add more than just Rychel.
If the trade is just for Rychel and no other parts I think Tinordi would be the best they can get from MTL. |

Gunnarsson for Rychel. Gunnarsson is easily a top 4 defenseman but he is not needed on the Blues. St. Louis is in need of prospects after training away so many picks for years. As another user said, I don't necessarily think Rychel should've gone in the first round, but he does have fairly good potential. He could fit in nicely on the 3rd line, playing opposite Backes, when his time comes. It's a win/win. |

The most viable swap I can think of is Beaulieu for Rychel. Not to pun on Tinordi but we have enough Tinordi's on are team. |

One for one, that would be too lopsided for cbj, IMO. Not trying to argue but I think Beaulieu is quite bit more valuable than KR at this point. I also don't think they plan to move Beaulieu as he seems destined for the second pair next year. |

Beaulieu emerged as a legitimate top 4 this year so it would make very little sense to trade him for a young forward who has yet to establish himself in the NHL also considering he struggled in the AHL. If it's the asking price, i don't think it's even worth discussing from the Habs' perspective. |

Agreed. I could only see Tinner or Emelin(cap dump) straight up. Petry is like a glimpse into the future of what Beaulieu will be, IMO. Except Nate could be tougher. |

Man would i bring Emelin to the PET's airport
On another note, i think that Markov n Plekanec should be used to improve our top 6. |

Agreed 1,000,000%.
DD and PAP too. Especially if there's a chance Scherbak or Mccarron can make the jump next year. Edit: or Rychel |

Beaulieu is a legit top 4 on most teams, why the hell do you refer at his AHL numbers as proof for how good he is? Last i checked, judging d-men wasn't all about the points they put up. I get you're a CBJ homer and probably don't watch a lot of habs games but Beaulieu has been great for us all season long, and at 22 will only get better. He could get paired with Subban on the top pairing and fit in nicely. Anyway, point of the rant is that Beaulieu alone would be a fair offer if not more for Rychel, who hasn't even established himself at the NHL level yet with only 5 games under his belt. |

Annnd I could say Rychel could become a good top 6 given he didn't look out of place on his short call up (management chose to send him back). I see Beaulieu , I just think he's benefiting from a good Therrien like defensive system.

I'd almost say Pateryn has a higher value than Beaulieu or Tinordi at the moment. Beaulieu is the best skating player I've seen in a long time, at any position, which is largely what helped him establish himself as an NHL'er this year in my opinion. I think the potential in his game is still pretty good, but I think if you look at a defenseman who's going to make an impact through the style of game he plays and his ability to do it, Pateryn is probably the most valuable. |

Except aside from GA Therrien runs a pretty crappy defensive system...habs finished bottom 10 in shots against, scoring chances against etc etc.
I think Beaulieu has proven more then Rychel has at this point though. |

Happy for Nick, although I still think this is more a publicity thing than anything else. Would've liked Duby as the captain as I think he's been far more consistent in his time with CBJ. My only hope is that Foligno is able to carry his success forward. Unfortunately, I strongly suspect he'll never have anything close to the success he had this past season and everything else moving forward will be a let down for him. But he's also a guy who shows up and gives the effort every night and that counts for a lot. I hope he proves me wrong and scores 30 again next season. |
