Good luck to Buffalo fans if you get Babs, he can sometimes be stifling for younger players, but he's a great coach. Wings are pretty much in a win/win, we either get Babs, or we get to promote Jeff Blashill, probably the best coach in the AHL and soon to be one of the best new coaches in the NHL. Should be a fun 24 hours.

First you say Babs is stifling for young players and then you go on and say your team is in a win/win situation. How is that possible? Most of your team is ready for the old age home and no real signs of anyone wanting to go there so you'll basically have a pretty young team. So how does that figure in with what your saying? Also he's bad with kids hey? He taught Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Tatar, Nyquist , Abdelkader etc so I'm sure he can handle Reinhart, Kane, Ennis, Eichel, Baptiste, Bailey, Ristolainen, Zadorov, Pysyk, McCabe, Bogosian and Hodgson.

I think their is no facts behind it and just a pipe dream. I'm not a huge burmistrov fan, sabres need offensive players. IMO, burmistrov is a high end top 9 player.

And if Roy had real interest in him, I think he'd have been there by now

Neither he or Hodgson have much trade value right now
An it doesn't make sense for Murray to "sell low" on guys that have that much talent
They will both be on the roster to start the year IMO

Wings are not on the downswing. They've got a lot coming, prospect wise. Pretty sure hockey futures has them listed as the 4th best group. We don't get the high picks like Buffalo, but we draft and develop young talent better than anyone else in the league.

False and false. Coho gets bought out during the window that is about to close because it will cost next to nothing to buy him out. We can't afford to wait.

Short term, yes. If we didn't get Babcock I would actually like them to get him as that would probably be the end of them doing the rebuild correctly and they would continue to be in the same area of irrelevance that they are in now. It is in their best interests to finish last for the next two years.

Was that the rumored trade on deadline day three years ago? There were all kinds of rumors floating around about Ovi, Miller, Vanek, etc. The story said that when the big trade fell through that they panicked and made a foolish trade.

The thing I wonder about all of this is that what if Darcy had pulled the trigger on one of these trades. Are we better off now that he completed franked up the franchise? The answer might be "yes".
