If the $8 million a year report is accurate, could it be possible that Pegula closed up the checkbook? - Pierceme69
It's all speculation at this point. The costs, the reasons. Maybe it just came down to preferring the city of Toronto over Buffalo for his Canadian family. Hell, if I was him, being American, I'd choose Buffalo 10/10 times. Preference. |

if he goes to the leafs, this is truly worst case for sabre fans IMO - homiedclown
Not at all. He's a great coach, sure. Now you have two amateurs running the team and making personnel decisions. After all, this is the guy that lobbied hard to get Weise and another scrub. |

Could be .
Closest salary of a coach so far is 2.9m
Leafs can keep BaChing at 8m. |

Right? Move on. This is a slap in the face, not a shot through the heart like losing out on McEichel would have been. I just hope, whoever we get, knows how to teach puck possession. |

I agree, but not going after the top guy like Babcock, however, just to for a better shot at a consolation prize isn't worth it. - buffalofan19
I would have been more upset if the price was attainable and the Sabres didn't try for Babcock. It's a nature of the business that you can't always get the guy you want, and if Babcock really wanted full control then so be it. It's rather difficult to be a coach and GM, one would suspect. Unless he's giving more power to Dubas or whatever that guy's name is. |

Except how much of a gap is there and ultimately how much of difference will at actually make.
That team is built to win, so as long as the coach is at least good they should be fine. I hope the same is true for us. |

Murray looked at his history of lobbying for players to trade/sign, and told him.. "...yeah, I think I'll make the decisions here..."
Go ahead and (frank) up the Leafs. |

Source says Babcock told Blues 2 days ago he was out. Things change? If not, the Leafs may have won the sweepstakes |

I think so too. Like Lafontaine. Pegula is a very generous man and I think he gets pissed when people insult him and what he's trying to accomplish. |

LOL at the league for being worried about buffalo raising the salary bar for coaches, then have their most prized organization (frank) everyone by giving him 5 million more than the next highest paid coach |

His inability, or, if you believe certain sources, outright refusal, to make in-game adjustments is the main reason I sour on him. |

Mike Babcock is a world class MORON if it is in fact Toronto. Have fun rotting away the rest of your career in that blackhole of a sports franchise I wish him nothing but professional failure |

I hope Babcock enjoys his time on that plane, since it's the last time for a while he'll see two wings with Leaf logos doing their job.

He was an AHL coach that was arbitrarily promoted over Therrien(the other most overrated coach in the NHL). The best team in the league fell in his lap with along with a Stanley cup. I watched the Pens games in the following years and the guy just doesn't get it. He can't put players in the best place to succeed. |
