Any word on whether Peluga offered his oil wells to Babcock?
I kid. Now that he's a Leaf I can say I think he's overrated without you guys thinking I'm just trying to knock him because he was going elsewhere.
Giving him control of the roster might not be the best thing either, given some of the moves he's rumoured to have wanted.
But never underestimate MLSE $$ - Feeling Glucky?
Never thought he was over-rated, but was damn sick of the circus, plus some of the early speculation that he'd mostly want to go where McDavid goes.
Here's to a big decade of hopefully rebuilding the rivalry between our teams where both are actually good! |

Good luck with him Gluck . Could be real bad in a couple years if he doesn't work out. Glad it's you guys and not us. |

You're right. The league is more low scoring now than when Crosby potted 39. I'll go with 33. - Pierceme69
That's the thing, even if you believe the gap is that big, the nhl today basically narrows that gap to almost nothing. |

I think he's going to learn the hard way how much better it is to work for a single owner in comparison to a corporation. That said, best of luck to you guys. Let's see if he's really as good as everyone seems to think he is.

This i agree with, 25-30 goals 50-60 assists a year. Not to start out but throughout his career.
Mcdavid wont be blowing those numbers out of the water the way scoring is trending. He is not going to be better than crosby was this season in his first year in the NHL. - ieetbred
McDavid will score 40+ multiple times in his career. |

You do know that the West is a harder conference to play in? Not to mention that Eichel is actually more physically suited for the NHL game? I bet their numbers are closer to each other than you think they will be. - HonkFortheGoose
When all is said and done, it won't matter. If you're great, you're great. Eichel is going to help the Sabres win a lot of games in the future. McDavid will probably help Edmonton win even more.
I do think Eichel/McDavid will end up being like an Ovechkin/Crosby situation though. Ovechkin did come out looking better early. It didn't take long for Crosby to catch up and pass him though. |

He would have been the coach here if Murray gave him some power and he would not.
what has the power of MLSE done ? - SABRES 89
Very glad he didn't. |

That's not totally true. Ovechkin still scored over 50 goals this year. Elite players will score. |

did you miss the Olympics? - gerbe75pts
They lost a 1-0 game to Canada. (Which was really the US gold medal game)
Was it his fault Kane failed to score on his penalty shot?
Then the players decided not to show up for the game against Finland.
But he only has one cup right?
I mean Babcock has soooo many more than that. |

Like I said yesterday, Leafs were willing to give him everything he wanted.
As a Leaf fan, it's good to see MLSE flexing their financial muscles and put together a pretty impressive braintrust.
I think Buffalo would be best served looking at McLean. He did a lot with a pretty bleh Ottawa team prior to this season. Knows how to handle young players, and have them play a possession game. |

Id rather Richardson short term. He's done a decent job developing the youth in binghamton. Maclean looked like a 1 year act. The following year he was kinda just 'meh' |

It wasn't about the money, the money was there for him in Buffalo. Babcock is running the show in Toronto end of story. |

Yea. I doubt he'll have full control over the Leafs though... they made a big deal about the work Dubas and Hunter would be doing, and have been saying for a while that the GM position in TO would be different than in other cities. |

Fresh blood is a good idea too.
I was hoping the Leafs would get Hunter out of London, but he seems pretty committed to staying in the OHL |

I think his time in Washington made him sour on the NHL a bit. He seems to be a lot happier in junior hockey (fair play to him considering the pay cut). |
