The Sabres got F'd here there's no question. Babcock is human scum. That being said even if we get a mediocre coach we'll still be at least two years ahead of the Leafs. - bluengold12
If both teams offered him the same amount, he's actually taking less to play in Toronto, due to taxes and the higher cost of living. Reports out of Buffalo are that the offers were the same.
Reports here in Toronto are that he talked to Hunter, and that's what convinced him. They probably went over the Leafs' long-term plans, and he liked it more.
Being two years ahead doesn't mean anything if you're on the wrong path. Not that I'm saying Buffalo is on the wrong path... but according to all the reports, it seems Babcock liked Toronto's path more. |

Do you think that Babcock will want to trade Kessel or Phaneuf now? - rmiethaner
No I don't. Which is a shame I wanted kessel. I also see this hurting the leafs, as I believe babcock will try to do what Burke did, put on a band-aid to fix the dam. |

He doesn't have full control. Not according to everything Toronto's management has said since Shanny came over.
Shanahan, Dubas, Hunter, Babcock, and whoever they name as new GM- be it Babcock or someone else- will all have a say. |

Go Home, Clown, you're drunk.
Or Henry got a hold of you early. |

We started the day without Babcock and ended it without him. No one has pointed about yet the real loser is Detroit. |

Hats off to Toronto. They came out on top. I would have loved to have had Babcock here but now we just have to hire someone to crush him into dust.
Danny B is my top hope now. Fingers crossed. |

That's a lot of voices to appease. Much like the cooks in the kitchen image. To each their own. Babcock has just as much of a hill to climb in Toronto that he would have had in Buffalo. |

We're all in the same division. Now we're facing him on a worse team. Its second best case scenario of all scenarios. |

Go to the Leafs thread, I just said it.
Still, everyone has their own role, and different expertise they bring to the table.
So, one guy's the pastry chef, another is the grill master, another specializes in seafood, you've got the sous-chef....

Except they have a guy they can promote that's done really well for them at the AHL level. We don't even have an AHL coach right now.
One name I haven't read mentioned at all, that I wouldn't hate, is Dineen. I think he did a good job of developing the young guys when he was our AHL coach. Wouldn't mind kicking the tires on him now. |

I think Pegula should fly to Grand Rapids and offer Blashill 3/$3M. And watch us punk TOR for the next decade. |

Crosby had 39. I already adjusted it down to 33 because this league is not a goal scorers league at present. |

I just see Babcock wanting to go through a full rebuild. So I expect them to try go big this offseason.

I remember we were both bummed when we lost him to FLA. |

I don't see how they can. I don't know who wants to inherit those contracts? |
